We have high speed internet and lovely places to work from with great views. We also welcome your well-behaved canine companion to partake in the experience.

Perfect for multiple families or groups, the layout showcases two bedrooms and a full bath on each wing of the house. Upon arrival, a gravel driveway and convenient carport await. Grilling enthusiasts will appreciate the option of two Weber grills, one propane and the other charcoal-fired, catering to your culinary preferences.

For nature lovers, the property showcases views of the lake, mature trees, and an open grassy expanse, complete with a firepit for evening get-togethers. Enjoy the private dock and a two-slip boathouse, granting direct access to the lake. The shallow waterfront is ideal for leisurely swims or explorations on stand-up paddleboards, a pedal boat, canoes, and kayaks. To the east, follow the southern shore to uncover the splendor of Smith's Creek or head straight across to explore the islands, with the old Roanoke River bed on the other side. No matter which direction you head you'll find a haven teeming with fish and inhabited by eagles, osprey, ducks, herons, and turtles.

Bring your own boat or rent one nearby to fully immerse yourself in the lake experience. For anglers and boating enthusiasts, a neighborhood boat ramp is available just a quarter-mile down Hinton Mill Road. If you’re looking to rent, a 20-minute drive will take you to Holly Grove Marina, and from there, a picturesque 6-mile boat ride will lead you back to the Sunrise Cottage boathouse.

Weekend 65th Birthday Getaway!
We throughly enjoyed our stay at The Sunrise Cottage. Beautiful views of the lake! The house was so clean and we appreciated that very much. Knowing that we were celebrating a Birthday, there were happy birthday balloons and candles. Good thing since I forgot 😳. So thoughtful! The homemade Quiche was outstanding as well as the Coffee Bar! Would definitely recommend! Thanks, Andrea & Troy

Great friends meet up spot!
We loved our time at the Sunrise Cottage and hope to repeat it again with warmer weather - it was a little cold the first weekend of Feb to enjoy the screened in porch for morning sunrise coffee but easy to see how wonderful a spot that would be for it. We did get to have a fire by the waterside one evening and were cozy inside with everything we needed and the space is super clean and true to pics with every detail provided. The most well-appointed rental I’ve ever stayed at! And the host-provided quiche was an amazing bonus — fed the three of us for both mornings of the weekend we were there and it was hearty and delicious! Lastly, the hosts went above and beyond to return some binoculars we left behind and I’m really grateful for their kind effort with that. Hope we can come back and canoe in warmer weather next time but for a winter visit it was just lovely! Thank you!

Beautifully decorated house
There is everything you may need in the house. The house is decorated with great attention to details and good taste. It was super clean. The view from the living room and the screened porch is beautiful. There are entertaining toys for all ages. Our toddler played with some, while adults liked 3-D puzzles. We would definitely love to come back. The communication with the owners was excellent. They are very friendly and considerate.

A Relaxing Winter Get-Away
A Girls Get-away for the long weekend. The cottage was spacious, especially with the two indoor living areas. It is very clean with a well-stocked kitchen, blankets and towels everywhere, and wood for the firepit. Although cold outside, we grabbed blankets and coats and sat by the water and on the screened in deck several times a day. The beautiful sunrises and views, and the STARS at night (wow), made for a perfect stay. Add us to the fan club for the cinnamon rolls - the jar of frosting was over the top delicious. Thank you Andrea and Troy for being generous hosts!

The homemade cinnamon buns were such a nice touch. The house was so cozy! Our dogs loved running and playing by the lake. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing on the screened in porch. It’s the perfect getaway!
