"We found the property clean but lacking, certainly not "Superb". The decor was sparse e.g. bare light bulbs. Negatives Bathroom: no mirror, no towel rails, only one hand towel in the property for three. "Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space."

"The hotel is easy to find, and ideally located for visiting Beamish Museum. It is very attractive, and the bar and restaurant areas have great views westwards over the valley. Each ground floor room has its own car parking slot - wonderful! The staff are friendly and helpful, and a small bonus for me, the malt whisky is cheaper than the pub down the road .... I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area, there was nothing I did not like."
