Great Getaway
Off the beaten path a bit, easy access to Highway. love it! Very quiet and safe. Great fish shop and ferry to Denman hornby island close by. Good Communication. View is gorgeous! Will come back in the warmer months!

Nice oceanfront property
The house was very clean and centrally located for our needs. Close to shopping and dining plus hiking and biking. Right on the water for great views. John and Sue are great hosts and gave us good information on things to do.

Family Getaway
John and Sue are amazing owners who ensure your stay meets and exceeds your expectations. They are accessible for any questions you may have, but also give you the privacy to enjoy their property and all it has to offer. Our party of six loved our early morning paddle sessions and the ease of using a wonderful trail that lead from the property into the open ocean.

Fantastic location, wonderful house set up and excellent amenities. Truly. The hosts thought of everything. The host was responsive and the property was everything as advertised. Perhaps I’m a little naive, but I found the price a little high. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we intend to go back. Thank you!

Very Relaxing Spot
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buckley Bay! We had our toddler in tow and the playpen/baby gate available were greatly appreciated. Lots of grass for our little one to run around and we loved exploring the beach out front. The house has everything you could need to feel at home (the beds were especially comfortable). We can’t wait to return and will be recommending it to our friends and family!

Not 100% private
Me, my husband and son stayed at this beach house. It was very nice and enjoyable. The view was amazing, the hot tub was as well. The only complaint I have is that if the family wasn’t home it wouldn’t be private at all unless you are inside. The way they describe the privacy is a bit misleading. Their house is right beside the beach house, they have huge windows and if you walk on to the balcony you could see them and they could see you. The yard is like 60% private if the neighbours don’t come outside. The neighbours have a long deck that goes into the backyard, if they wanted to have a fire they could see into the beach house from their fire pit, they can also see into the beach house through the kitchen window. Luckily we didn’t see anyone at all so I don’t think anyone was home. Other then lack of privacy it was enjoyable, the beach house is beautiful and was very relaxing. It was a nice get away. Also beware of bats while in the hot tub at nighttime, we were in the hot tub and suddenly this bay starts flying around us getting closer and closer until we decided to make a run for it haha

Hi Shaila, Thank you for your review. We are a bit puzzled as to why you have spent so much time criticizing the privacy of the Beach House? Our listing on Vrbo clearly says “We live next door to the Beach House - the 2 houses are on the same property, but private to each other. Built at the same time, careful consideration was made so each house took full advantage of the wonderful views without imposing on the other house’s privacy.” When you enquired about how private the property was we replied “the house will be very private for you and your husband. The property is about an acre in size with 2 homes on it, the vacation rental and the house we live in. We will be on holiday ourselves that week, so you would have the place to yourselves.” Just to set the record straight, we CAN NOT see into the rental from our house, and guests staying in the rental CAN NOT see into our house. Both houses have large windows to take advantage of the wonderful views! We feel this is a beautiful property which we are happy to share with others. John and Sue

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay! The deck was the highlight! Beautiful views to enjoy your morning coffee with! It’s perfectly located between Courtney and Parksville. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved the view of the water, Denman Island and the ferries crossing. The house provided separate sleeping areas for our adult son and a large open kitchen, dining and living area to enjoy together. The weather was cool and rainy so we were not able to take advantage of the outdoor area.

Spring Break
Had a lovely few days at Buckley Bay. John was a wonderful communicator leading up to our trip with lots of helpful information and suggestions.The property was beautiful, clean and perfectly laid out for our family of 5. It is right off the island hwy which is great from a location perspective and the Fanny bay oyster shop is just down the road with amazing seafood!The kids had lots of fun between the grassy area and the beach and you can’t beat waking up to the beautiful ocean view and cooking in the kitchen. The hot tub was a big hit too! Literally the only tiny criticism is the main bedroom faces the road so with the window open you can hear some traffic but closed no issues. We had an awesome time visiting all the local places, eating crab, playing spike ball, we could have stayed a week longer! Thank you John and Sue, we’ll be back! 😁

Comfortable and beautiful
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. The view from the living/dining/kitchen area was beautiful. Everything was new and fresh and clean, the kitchen was well equipped with anything we could need, the owners were helpful with recommendations for activities, etc. There was only one down side, which was that the property is very close to the road and there was constant traffic noise.

Wonderful vacation!
Absolutely beautiful location. House is lovely, with everything you could need. Very centrally located. Easy to find. Peaceful surroundings. We even saw a pod of 3 orcas frolicking in the bay! Highly recommend this property and Vancouver Island.

Perfection at Buckley Bay!
We loved staying at the beach house - starting the day with coffee on the deck overlooking the ocean and ending the day stargazing in the hot tub was perfection! In between there were endless beaches, trips to Coombs, river tubing in Courtney (our favorite), local farmer’s markets, and tasty brew pubs. The beach house was on a fabulous ocean front property and was peaceful and private. We’ll be back!

We enjoyed our stay at this beach house on the water with a large yard for the kids to play in, easy access right to the water, and nice hot tub. About a 30 min drive to either Courtney or Parksville to a town with more amenities and beaches. Owners are right next door but they were very pleasant and the beach house still felt private.

The perfect weekend getaway
The Buckley Bay Beach House was the perfect spot for our weekend getaway. The property was clean, well stocked with all the essentials, and set on a stunning piece of property. The hot tub, beach fire pit, easy beach assess and calm water for some morning paddle boarding, made this the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy some family time.

This property is a spacious, well maintained, fully stocked home. It's location is ideal for those wanting ocean view and centrally located between Courtenay and Qualicum Beach. Cosy winter break
We had a lovely relaxing time, in between trips to Mount Washington to ski and snowshoe, and exploring the Comox valley & nearby Denman & Hornby. The views were as hoped for, and the cottage is well kitted out with everything you need for a comfy stay. Just bring your own tea, coffee etc., as there’s no “starter kit”. Jon & Sue were always happy to provide advice (& emergency sugar :-) and their recommendations were always good. The store down the road near the ferry (below the gas station convenience store) is excellent & well stocked with everything you need.

Beautiful waterfront house
The Beach House is perfectly located on a lovely piece of property just a few minutes north of Buckley Bay, and close to all amenities. It was a wonderful getaway for the four of us to celebrate a family member's birthday. Check-in was easy and the kitchen was well stocked with absolutely everything - except for crab crackers, but that's pretty minor! We would definitely go back.

Spectacular Waterfront home close to Courtenay and Comox
John and Sue's house is beautiful and in a fabulous location, Even though we had rain for 3 of the 4 days, the house and Jacuzzi made up for the bad weather. And on the 4th morning the cloud and rain had gone and we had a glorious sunrise across the water, before we left. We totally recommend to book this house, and John and Sue were so quick to answer any of our questions prior to our visit. Many thanks Dave and Joan

Great beach house location
Beautiful beach house right on the water with an incredible view. Very comfortable beds and well equipped property to meet all your needs. Nice deck overlooking a spacious yard, with BBQ and all the implements. Beautiful windows overlooking the water from upstairs provide a panoramic vista. Fantastic beach house for the family!
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very well furnished with everything you would need. The view of the ocean is unobstructed and serene. We enjoyed clamming and getting oysters right off the private beach. The hosts are lovely people and very responsive to any small question we asked. All in all, two thumbs up :-)

Fabulous property right on the bay, with beautiful sunrises over Denman Island. Large grassy area to play catch, croquet, etc. Launched the kayak right from the property every morning. Well appointed house with all the essentials. Good bedroom setup for families (3 beds down, master up). Hot tub overlooks the bay for a relaxing soak in the evenings.

Enjoyed our week long stay at the beach house. Beautiful yard and great house for a family - clean and had all the essentials. Wished we had easy access to a kayak, because an ocean paddle would have been wonderful! But we enjoyed ourselves all the same. Great central location to get to various sight seeing spots. Would highly recommend.

Great location right on the ocean. Amazing beaches in all directions including Denman and Hornby with the ferry just down the street. Hosts went over and beyond some of our crazy requests.
