About this property
Village Accomodations - Two Bedroom Cottage Two Doubles and Two Twins
The Outer Banks Motel on Cape Hatteras is offering a unique opportunity to stay in one of its original, though recently renovated, two bedroom cottages that was moved from the oceanfront location decades before to rescue it from an impending hurricane. The guest favorite "G3" as we call it, is part of the 'Garden Cottages Collection' and is safely located one mile from the oceanfront on the historic Cape Creek Canal. After registering and procuring your cottage keys and directions from the main office located on the oceanfront, you'll park in the gravel lot that was once a lush family garden 50+ years ago. After climbing a few short steps to the deck overlooking the Creek, your key opens the storm door to the glassed-in four-season porch complete with rocking chairs. Another keyed door off the porch opens into the living area. The main interior boasts an open floor plan with each of its two bedrooms opening into the main living and dining area. Each bedroom has an antique dresser, double bed and a twin bed, closet, and extra blankets. The bedroom windows look out onto the Canal. The complete kitchen has all the amenities you may need, including a full range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, dual tub kitchen sink, standard coffee maker, toaster, and electric can opener. Every utensil, pan, pot, and complete set of dishes are there for your convenience. A full-sized dining room table with six chairs is situated between the kitchen and living room area. The living room has a comfortable leather sofa and nautical-themed lounge chair with extra pillows. A 32" Smart T.V. with standard cable and internet is there for your rainy day enjoyment. Several family heirloom antiques are blended throughout the decor adding to the relaxed island atmosphere. The full bathroom is located at the far end of the cottage, complete with bathtub and shower for those days when only a long soaking bath will do. On clear nights, you may see the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse light circle the sky every seven seconds over the Creek. Full access to the pool, hot tub and oceanfront amenities are included.

Great property! Very clean. I didn’t get the cottage I request from VRBO but got a comparable one! Very quick to answer questions. Overall a great stay!!
Simple but clean and well-placed accommodations. One night stay during a road trip at OBX. Perfectly placed as a staging point for our next day's itinerary of visiting Hatteras and Ocracoke. Minimal kitchen supplies, but all we needed for reheating some leftovers. IT would have been difficult to cook "homemade" meals. Also, FYI the hot tub/pool facilities are at the main hotel about a mile away, not at the cottage itself. Not a problem for my trip, but may confuse others.
Ignore all the mean reviews you’ve seen on this place!! Communication is not and was not an issue, the owner of the property helped us more than I could ever thank him for. The women working in the check in office were nothing but kind and generous from the time we arrived to the time we left. I can’t thank them enough for a wonderful trip to the beach!
Close to Cape Hatteras, central location. Simple place, nothing fancy but good price. Clean place. Comfirtable beds. Allowed dogs!

For last minute stay the property was okay, description had us believe we could walk to restaurant, from office/main motel you could but this property is more then a mile from office. Inside could use some TLC, blinds didn’t work in one bedroom or living room, being an older property electric receptacles were sparse and ones there already were in use by lamps, internet/tv box so charging of mobile devices was hard. Description and pictures can be deceiving! Property is okay for guys on fishing trip but beware if you are traveling with city girls!

Check In
The check-in process was the worst ever....terrible.
I sent 4 emails to the property owner to ask about how to enter the property and specific questions about sheets, towels, etc.... and never received a response.
As a result I doubt that we will use Home Away again.
The house itself was comfortable.
