Escape reality as you unwind on the golden sands of this tiny, often very quiet beach, which is protected by picturesque cliffs.
Cala Sudario is one of a string of secluded coves that runs along the Costa de la Luz close to the town of Conil de la Frontera. Forget your day-to-day concerns as you relax on this beautiful beach. With a dramatic rocky background of scenic cliffs, clear blue waters and soft golden sand, this is an ideal place to spend a tranquil few hours.
Be aware that the rocky nature of the descent to this beach makes it a little difficult to access. However, this does mean that the beach tends to be fairly quiet and isolated, and you are unlikely to have to share this peaceful spot with many other visitors.
Pack your swimsuit, some sunscreen and a beach towel as well as a picnic and you will have everything you need for a wonderful day here. Do keep in mind that, as the beach is not very developed, there are few facilities in the immediate area. If you want lunch here, remember to bring it with you. This quiet, natural charm is part of the beach’s appeal.
Walk around 20 minutes to the west and you will encounter the other secluded, rocky beaches of Cala Pitones and Cala Melchor, before ending up at the much larger Cala del Aceite. This beach is slightly more developed and tends to be busier. Close to this area you will also find a few restaurants, the beautiful viewing point at the Faro de Cabo Roche (Cabo Roche Lighthouse) and the Sendero de Roche hiking area.
Choose to head southeast instead and you will again encounter several beaches. The area around the Fuente del Sol beach is well-developed and offers a few different places to eat and sleep. Further along the coast is Conil de la Frontera, a quaint historic town with striking white houses.
Stay in Conil de la Frontera and you will be just over a 10-minute drive from Cala del Sudario. This lovely place also makes a good base for exploring the famous Pueblos Blancos, or White Villages, of Andalucía.
