Family get together.
This property was great. Lots of bedrooms spread out over 3 floors so little ones could nap or go to bed and the rest of us could gather without disturbing them. Kitchen was well outfitted with everything we needed to cook and house was clean. We were all able to eat together at the dining table: lots of chairs. Even though there was snow we enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sunshine in the afternoon. Would be a very fun place to stay in warmer weather. We had a wonderful relaxing time here.

Best White Christmas location
Absolutely fantastic property and location!!! An extended family of 10 travelled from Australia for a white Christmas and found this property to be like home. The three levels allowed everyone to live harmoniously together for our 17 days there. The property was extremely well-cleaned, including the hot tub, and our host, Dan, was always on hand if needed. The location was a little out of town, away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to everything we needed. We now refer to this property as our "Canadian home". We will definitely be back. Thanks for everything Dan!

House of Horrors
Furnishings are torn and well worn. Not much was as depicted in advertisement. Many heath and safety issues as well. There were holes in the deck, no railings on open stairs. A “ bedroom” in the basement had no window, illegal to classify as bedroom as well as fire hazard There was a build up of many years of dirt in windows and sliding glass doors tracks. The BBQ was so disgustingly dirty we would not want to put food on it. There was no air vents in the main floor bedroom for either heat or air conditioning. The bedding should be thrown out as it’s so worn. No pool table as advertised, the hot tub didn’t work either! I can supply photos for each of these concerns and more

I am very sorry you felt this way. I was unable to accommodate an early checkin that you requested because of a same day turnover. You demanded to still check in at noon while my cleaner finished. You started your trip pissed off under the stress of being the mother of the bride. You then proceeded to complain about the cleanliness and property while not allowing my cleaner and maintenance guy on the property to address your issues. I asked you to leave and offered to put you up in a hotel, you refused. I refunded half your stay. You are mean, condescending and unreasonable to deal with. I don’t dispute that the property could have been in a little better condition. The property is described as a renovated spacious acreage. Not a 5 star hotel

Great house for week-long Ringette Camp
House was ideal for our large group. Plenty of space for 7 teenage female players with a few parents to supervise. Table tennis tournament, enjoyable fire in the evenings, and a great soak in the hot tub after days of ringette training. Bathrooms were very spacious and a great variety of sleeping options with the 6 bedrooms available. Wildlife viewing was an additional bonus. Would book again. Thanks Dan for hosting!

Beautiful Location with some Idiosyncracies
So much space in beautiful surroundings. We were a family of 10 Seniors and we enjoyed our stay. We were able to sit around the kitchen table and the deck table … plenty of deck space, although we didn’t work out where the outdoor pool table is located. BBQ brush needs replacing. Some of the bedrooms are a bit quirky and we note the comments about the room with no windows made by another reviewer. There are things that need attention, most of which could be easily managed. The microwave turntable and light didn’t work. The fridge door catch didn’t work properly. Can opener didn’t work. There are some deteriorated deck boards out front. Shower off Master bedroom has a problem with water spillage. Some of these comments may seem petty and it wouldn’t take a lot of time or expense to make improvements. Overall, everyone slept well, enjoyed the many visiting spaces and hot tub, and loved, loved the green rolling countryside, especially after rain showers.

Our little staff of 7 went on a two day work retreat. The space was perfect for eating and working!
Beautiful space. We enjoyed the ping pong, ĺoved the kitchen, walked, sat in the hot tub and enough space to be in smaller groups for discussions after our guest speaker. We will go back for sure!

Good property with some safety issues.
My only real complaint is that we discovered on the last night of our stay that there was only one smoke detector in the entire house and it was on the top floor. One of the listed bedrooms has no window, which in Alberta, where the property is, is not a legal bedroom. I wasn't really concerned about it until I found that there was no smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector on that floor. I messaged the host about the smoke detectors and my other overall feedback when I got home, but there was no reply. Personally, I think it is misleading to categorize a room with a bed as a bedroom if there is no window or door for privacy, etc. and not enough smoke detectors is a big deal. There was also a mouse in the wall of my bedroom that my spouse and I could hear scratching around in a vent all night the first two nights which was unnerving and made it really difficult to sleep. I accept that rural properties can come with mice, but there was no way for us as guests to deal with it and when I let the host know, they said that they would put traps up later, but made no move to do that while we were there. Luckily after that the mouse either died or found somewhere else to live. There is a safety issue with the stairs with lack of railings which would be an issue for people with mobility issues, but with three floors it wouldn't be a great layout for people with mobility issues anyway. The hot tub was not clean but the property manager came right away to help us with that. The layout of the property is great for three families of four and the location is very peaceful and there are four full bathrooms which is great. Future guests should be aware that they need to bring even basics for cooking ingredients to the house (like salt and pepper, cooking oil, etc.) though it's only about 15-20 minutes to a grocery store from the property.

Wonderful place for our Family Gathering

Lovely home! Lovely Location!
We genuinely loved our stay at this home. We're a family of 10 adults plus teen & a little. This home could accommodate all of us around the dinner table to eat and play games. The kitchen was sufficiently stocked with pots, griddle, cookie sheets and crockpot. The property was well kept and large enough for everyone to hang on the deck or play games in the yard. Lots of parking. Only things I would note; * The listing notes two bedrooms labelled as King sized beds though actually are two twin beds. Perhaps the twins could be pushed together to make a bigger bed however are not king beds. * Dart board & darts are well worn out but the ping pong table was fabulous! * I would have liked to have seen a proper fry pan for making eggs, though there is a griddle. * Hot tub was terrific! * Yard is well kept! Overall this home is lovely for our weekend family gathering and we truly enjoyed our stay!

Great stay in a secluded property
We stayed here for the weekend with friends for a birthday celebration. There is plenty of space for people to be together or separate depending on needs. The hot tub was great and can easily fit 4-6 people. Unfortunately, the first morning we sadly discovered the Keurig machine wasn’t working to make coffee. Luckily the owner had a new one brought out to us very fast. Much appreciated! Dan definitely goes above and beyond to make sure you have what you need for your stay. My only advice is to remember your hairdryer , as one isn’t provided in the house anywhere. Well equipped kitchen, but we didn’t cook much as there are several restaurants a short drive. Including a great bbq place about 15 minutes away! Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway with the peacefulness of space and also convenience of amenities a short drive away.

Great place for a weekend getaway
Friends and I rented the house for a quick weekend getaway and it delivered on the promise of a enjoyable and relaxing weekend. The hot tub and front yard are fantastic features, as is the many large TV’s so we could enjoy some summer playoff hockey. 10/10 would come back each year.

This rental was amazing! Exactly as advertised. Plenty of space, beds, and worked great for our team!! There were 11 of us and none of us felt squished at all. Great location - granary road is 4 mins away and GREAT for kids! We did goat yoga! Hot tub, Deckard, and fire pit were a huge plus and provided lots of activities. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a place!

The house was set up perfectly for our needs, we were very impressed with the layout.
We all want to return in the summer, the decks seem very inviting. The hot tub was a welcome delight! Just a few minutes away was a wonderful year-round farmer's market so having fresh produce to cook was great. Our group of 10 all give Dan's place 2 thumbs up and we look forward to returning this summer!

this was a fantastic venue for a family Christmas with all our children and spouses.
Twelve thumbs up from our family. It was a really welcoming space or us to spend five days together for Christmas. Being able to have the family pets along was perfect. The hot tub is likely in need of a clean and water change, though, and a vegetable peeled would be a welcome addition to the kitchen equipment. Ground floor ensuite shower diverter has some issues too. We would recommend it for a family getaway or reunion. The top floor suite was gorgeous for our family group with toddlers. The amenities were great. We loved it.

Wonderful Family New Year
Our family of 12 stayed at this property for four nights over New Years weekend. It was perfect for us to visit and host friends and family throughout the weekend. It was clean and comfortable and very well suited for family use, and although we did not have any small children it could easily accommodate those that do. No major issues to report and we would recommend to anyone looking for a getaway outside of the city but close enough to town when needed. Thanks Dan....sk

Great Home!
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the True North Lodge. The beds were comfortable, and the games room and hot tub were definitely a hit. It had lots of privacy and was comfortable inside and out. Would recommend this home for a group rental.

Great location
Our family had a wonderful time staying in this De Winton property. Dan has provided just about everything one could imagine to make the house comfortable and inviting. We were three generations and all of us loved the spacious, relaxing atmosphere. The grounds are great for playing and wandering. I really liked the location - close enough to be able to get into Calgary but far enough away from the city to have a rural feel. Most enjoyable. Thank you Dan.

Fantastic retreat for large groups
We rented this place for three families with kids. Everyone had a comfy bed and their own space. There was always something to do with all the games, hot tub, ping pong table and pool table. Very close to Granary Road, which was a great day trip for small kids. Also close to both Calgary and Okotoks. We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!!

Perfect set up for our group! Owner is fantastic to work with and very responsive.
We had a group of 8 competing at the RMSJ two week show in June and this house met every need - great space, convenient location, peaceful place to return to after a long day at the show. Minor issues were addressed by the owner, Dan, promptly. Already planning on booking this house again next June!

Nice quiet get away!
I have to say that the services was impeccable! We were greeted by a hostess and shown the property. The place itself is great for getting away with some friends to chill and enjoy the amazing south facing deck! Lots of room inside too! We ran into two little hiccups and when I contacted the owner, we were responded to quickly and the issues were taken care of. If you're looking for a quiet country get away, this is a place to consider.

This place was awesome. We had our bachelor party out there and it was perfect. Very spacious and a lot of sleeping room, and also a lot of activities there too. Dan was very good and responsive to any questions we had. Great stay, would recommend.
