Stay at the Castle

This property was amazing and had something for everyone. Very clean, comfortable and accommodating. Kitchen was amazing and there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy the long weekend. Movie theater and basketball court were big hits for the kiddos and the basketball court and downstairs bar was a great place to hang out after the kids were put to bed. Property Manager was great and very responsive. Would absolutely stay here again.

Great experience!!

Stayed on property with a group of friends. We had a 5 star experience. Close to golf and fantastic set up that allowed us to gather as a group and spend time together. Maureen was very helpful throughout the entire process. Highly recommend!

Old Kinderhook

We planned a last minute Spring Break getaway and picked Old Kinderhook as a remote location. The house was large with lots to do. The indoor basketball court/gaming area and theater were the favorites of the stay. We enjoyed it very much and plan to come back!

Perfect Golf Trip Home

I want to thank the hosts of the "Castle" for such an amazing experience that will be remembered for years to come! We arrived and were immediately blown away by the picturesque views and craftsmanship that this home offers. We took advantage of the kitchen and grill the first night and it really made the trip feel like a home away from home. If you are looking to take a group to the Ozarks, I highly recommend looking at this property as I you will not be disappointed.

This is a must stay!!! Awesome property for a group. Came up from Texas for a graduation at MIZOU. Adults and kids had a great time. Great property with great views . I could go on and on. Basically we had an awesome weekend. There are lots of houses on the lake for rent. I would choose this one again. Thanks

Awesome Views!

The views from Kinderhook Castle are amazing! The community fireworks show was on July 1st, all 15 of us said it was by far the best views of fireworks we have ever had. The castle fit our group of 15 with no problem, there was plenty of gathering spots and plenty of space to have some quiet reading time. We enjoyed the golf course, tennis courts, we also rented a boat and jet ski in Osage Beach. The basketball court and pool table kept the kids busy. We saw a lot of deer, a fox, an armadillo, and even a groundhog. Owner was a breeze to work with throughout the rental process.

Family Friendly

The house had plenty of space for the whole extended family. Had some issues with WiFi, but homeowner tried to resolve this issue. Only a minor issue as we were out most days. When we were booking we felt as though it were saying that there was a pool on the site, but had to drive to community pool, again minor issue did not effect our families ability to have a good time. The basketball court and theater room were awesome for the teenagers. Overall we enjoyed our trip.

Amazing stay at the castle!

We did a girls trip with about 15 girls and we couldn’t asked for a more fun weekend! There was plenty of space for all of us to have our own space to get ready and not feel like we were right on top of each other. One day We had overcast weather and the game room space allowed to have fun without having to leave the castle. The house being set up with Sonos speakers made it easy to play music throughout the house. It’s tucked away up in the neighborhood so it felt we were pretty secluded and didn’t hear much noise from the neighborhood. Maureen left great instructions on where things were located and recommendations for the area! Bummer we didn’t get to check out the pools because we visited before Memorial Day but I’d imagine they were great! Can’t recommend the castle enough and many friends asked for the link afterwards!

Beautiful location!

We recently rented Kinderhook Castle for a week in July 2015 to host my daughter's wedding. The house was more than spacious enough to accommodate our family and friends. The view was an amazing backdrop for pictures and we also enjoyed the amenities at the Kinderhook golf course. The pools and restaurant were a big hit. Maureen was wonderful to work with and very responsive to questions. The only negative I had about the house was that it got quite warm in the afternoons but I think that was more about the heat wave than the house itself. The thermostat is controlled remotely so you have to contact the owner to adjust it, but she did so very quickly when we texted her. I would not hesitate to rent the castle again or to recommend it to friends or family. FYI - Bridal Cave is very close and the kids loved it!

A Modern Day Fairy Tale Weekend

What a magnificent property! The surroundings and views are absolutely stunning. Our Bachelorette party of approximately 20 guests had more than enough room. The attention to detail in the home is incredible and the scenery is breathtaking. Maureen was extremely accommodating and made check-in and check-out super easy. She was quick to respond to any requests we had, and her level of detail in providing information was impressive. All the bedrooms were unique and cozy, with super comfy and clean beds. Since the bedrooms are located away from most common areas, everyone had plenty of privacy and could go to bed early without any problem. The castle's layout is fun and inviting, making you want to explore. We were amazed by the common areas, which were all very unique and well equipped for entertainment, from televisions to the sound system. The kitchen was a dream come true for the Chef who prepared dinner for us one night. Despite the Spring-like weather in late March/early April, we still explored the trails and gigantic outdoor patios, which were well maintained. We had everything we needed or could have wished for on the property. Staying in a castle and celebrating with friends was like living in a fairytale.

Lovely but chilly

We spent my birthday weekend at the house with family and friends. We had a great time with lots of space. The kids enjoyed the basketball court and we all gathered in the kitchen to cook. We watched movies in the theater room and the boys played XBOX. The only issue we had was that the heat on the lowest floor wasn't working so we couldn't use the bedroom down there and it too cold to sit with the kids while they were playing. It never got above 58 degrees in the lowest area of the house, the kids didn't mind while playing basketball but otherwise it was way to cold. The repairman came but he couldn't get it running while we were there. Overall the house lovely, not necassarly a warm homey feel but spacious. There are door handles that are not attached and need repair, there are somethings in the kitchen that one needs to consider before traveling. There was no mixer and only one muffin tin, no baking dishes. Walmart is close though.

It was a wonderful home for our 6 day family vacation. 10 adults. 8 grandkids. There were enough bedrooms with queen beds. And 4 of the grandkids loved the bunk room. The master suite was amazing. The gym was great for Amy and all ball games. The pool/air hockey table was used as was the acade machine. We didn't think we'd need the theatre room, but it was great for keeping the kids occupied between activities. And the conference room was used nightly for card and board games. The kitchen served as the center for all the meals. The ice machine was a huge asset. Maureen had extra fold out tables and nice chairs to accommodate the 18 of us for meals. The pools were just a short drive down the hill and were used often. We had a photographer come for family photo shoot. So many places on property to take the pictures. Maureen was attentive to any small issues. The communication was ongoing during the visit.

Family vacation

The home was very spacious. There were 15 of us and it worked out perfectly. There was a lot to do for the teenagers. The seating area could have used more seats. The dining room chairs were horrible. You sank down in them when you sat down and one chair had a wobbly leg and someone almost fell. They all need replaced. The split air conditioner dripped all night and i called the property manager to let her know it needed fixed and never received a reply. We couldn't use it anymore and it was really hot outside. Also the description of the house said it had a pool. It doesn't have a pool on the property. You have access to a pool in the neighborhood. I thought i was booking a house with a private pool as there were 15 of us. It should have said pool access.

Spacious custom home in gated golf community.

Large custom home. Our family of 12 adults & 4 children had plenty of room to gather. Large kitchen for meal prep. Basketball court in bottom floor offered great indoor fun. Owner was very responsive & access was easy. Pool is within driving distance in gated community and small. Ha Ha Tonka Park is very close & quite nice. Home was in need of a more thorough cleaning. A/c in theater room did not work & master jacuzzi did not work.

Well worth the trip

We are a family of 19, ranging in age from 13 to 80, and we all had a grand time. The house is very unique and sits atop a hill. The kitchen is well-equipped, you just have to provide the food. There is also a wok and an outdoor bbq. Hiking, fishing, tubing, jet skis, cave exploring...our group did it all in spite of the incredibly hot and humid weather. The youngsters enjoyed the indoor basketball court. There is an indoor elevator available for use by handicapped or mobility challenged only, but there is no wheelchair ramp or lift. Maureen, the owner of the property, was super responsive and accommodating when we had questions or problems. We made memories that will last a lifetime.

Wedding

Our stay at the castle was truly amazing. There was so much to do in the home. Our goal was to spend as much time with family without also going crazy, and the amount of space and things to do allowed that to happen. Maureen was very quick to respond when we had questions about anything. The kitchen upstairs and downstairs was nice because it was enough space and ovens to cook food. There were 3 garbage cans in the garage which was needed after our event so that was helpful. The kids got to experience the Christmas Village hay ride and elf reading, and they also went fishing. The only very minor complaints was that the floors in the living room and upstairs bedroom (where the tile was) were cold this time of year, so bring your slippers. There were space heaters provided though. If you are staying more than a couple nights, bring your own shampoo/body wash. There is some provided, it was just small bottles. Overall we are very happy with our stay; and the fact that we could use it as our wedding venue for an additional $1000 fee was so helpful and made our day special.
