"This property was so peaceful and quiet. It sits on a large lot with lots of privacy. The walk down to the dock is fun for kids, lots of rocks and it’s a little trail. We spent most of our time down at the dock. The views were spectacular, beautiful reflections in the water each morning, calm quiet lake and the sunset right in front of us each night. Escape to our cozy Winthrop cabin on Dexter Pond

10/10 Excellent

"Lou-Anne and Rick are the cream of the crop as hosts. Lou-Anne came right over to fix my wi-fi connection. We had a good conversation, too, about the history of the cabin. It is small but adorable! Not too much Maine decor, just right, cleverly displayed. The owners have made their cabin fully functional even in tight places. Very comfortable and attractive. As for Dexter Pond’s natural habitat, while we were kayaking, we saw a mother loon with her baby on her back, an eagle in flight, and an egret at our dock. One thing to note ahead, is that the photo of the shore doesn’t show how small it is. There is barely a patch of sand and the bottom is all muck and weeds as far as you can walk out. It is impossible to swim at the shore or even at the float because it’s surrounded by weeds in the water. One bright idea I had was to go to the Winthrop Town Beach. It’s free, has picnic tables and benches, life guards in season, port-a-potties, a sandy beach and a gorgeous lake named Maranacook. There is also a boat launch! Hope this helps those who want a nice place to swim and a larger lake for boating. All that said, our stay at the cottage was quiet, tranquil and refreshing. Go and enjoy!"

"Very clean and cozy. There were plenty of activities both inside and out to keep us occupied.Kitchen was stocked with everything we could need to cook whatever we brought with us. Spices, coffees and teas were readily available. Children really enjoyed the kayaks, puzzles, loft and bunkhouse."

"Lovely home and property. AC and shade when sitting by the water kept us comfortable despite being over 90 degrees every day. So many extras provided- shampoo and conditioner, hand soap, dishwashing liquid, life jackets, kayaks, float tubes, and plenty of dishes and silverware. Hosts responded very quickly to any questions. The best rental we have ever had."

"We really enjoyed our stay at this property for 2 weeks. Everything we needed was available at the house: utensils, basic kitchen supplies, coffee maker, grill, toys, books, kayaks, beach chairs - you name it. Internet was sufficient for both me and my husband to work for 2 weeks, but sometimes video calls were a challenge (I think that’s a general issue in the Belgrade/Rome area - not house specific). There was plenty of room to spread out and several desks for work, plus comfy areas for relaxation indoors and outdoors. 5 minute walk to a private community beach at the pond where kids swam and built sand castles while my husband fished using one of the kayaks. Across the pond is Day’s Store, and we kayaked across for lemonade (about 20 minutes to paddle across). 10-15 minute walk or 2 minute drive to a local trail (Roundtop). Mala the host was extremely responsive and helpful with all our questions. It takes a day to get used to not flushing TP (due to a sensitive septic system), but after the first day we got into a habit and didn’t even notice it. Anyone who thinks it’s an issue - trust me, it is not."
