Halfwat stop of from Devon to Scotland Glen Coe

Horrendous journey to the Fox and Pheasant. Worried we would miss the dinner cut off time we called through. Been traveling for over 10 hours! No problem arrive very tied to a lovely bowl of soup. Feel in to bed and had an amazing sleep. Set off next morning after a fantastic breakfast and a lovely packed lunch. Defo stop off again

Stop over

Welcoming helpful staff, very approachable. The room was clean and well presented had everything we needed. However, it was extremely hot and one of the windows didn’t open. I feel they should have prepared for this and provided a fan. However saying that they welcomed the dog and provided a bed and for him. Dinner was very nice and an excellent breakfast.

Stopped here on the way up to Scotland and was terrifically impressed. The venue is sited in a small village around a 15 min drive from Penrith, surrounded by green, picturesque countryside. There is a riverside path close to the pub which is ideal for walking your dog. The pub is very dog friendly and serves great food. The room was extremely comfortable with a tv, modern bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was served by Steve (the owner) at 0800 who was very chatty and friendly. Overall a great place to stop and hope to return at some point in the future.

Dog friendly accommodation. Clean dog beds, dishes and towels were provided. Very friendly and helpful staff. The woods behind the property provided a lovely setting to allow my hounds to run off lead. Lovely, clean room for humans, as well.

A very comfortable stay in a beautiful old coaching inn. Bed was very comfortable and all amenities supplied. We had an evening meal there which was delicious using locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast was also very good.

Worth the effort of getting to.

The Fox and Pheasant is accessed by a single lane road about 10 minutes drive from the A6. The drive is worth it for a lovely river view over pastures and the delightful food. The ambiance is of a large country Inn.

Lovely welcome

Stayed for two nights. Staff were very welcoming. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Food was of a very high quality and the chef was a jolly soul. Enjoyed my stay here.

Unexpectedly welcome surprise

Nice inn, great breakfast, excellent rooms and a fantastically friendly host. It was a really pleasant surprise after a long drive and the surrounding location is great for a walk. Interesting mix of local characters and families at the bar and I imagine pretty lively on Fridays and Saturdays.

location very good for touring north lakes landlord and. lady steeve and sue plus there two sons very friendly and very helpful two lovely big woodburners keeping bars very warm we loved the the caricature of the old building

Second visit this year and again were made very welcome. Room was excellent and so was service , food and facilities. Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and will definitely go back again. Would highly recommend a stay here.

A joy

Only 15 mins from M6 this place is a bit off the beaten track but is a joy. Room was spotless, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub itself is full of character and the locals are friendly too. We will definitely stay again.

Amazing place, thoroughly recommend.

Absolutely loved this place. Really authentic country feel, quiet location but not far from the main areas in the Lake District. Breakfast is amazing as is the food in general, and the staff are just so lovely and helpful, to the point that when the chef named Dan found out about our long journey home, he wrapped up some of his famous homemade desserts and presented them to us on our way out “so that we don’t get hungry!” Really loved the place and a very authentic Lake District country feel. Thoroughly recommend it and will definitely visit again.
