A pleasant home away from home

Melina and her family are excellent hosts. The building is laid out as a set of self contained apartments with a shared lobby, with their home being off the lobby if you need to contact them. The apartment was kept clean throughout our stay with fresh towels, etc. every 2 days. The selection of cooking equipment was good, so self-catering was a practical option, and Melina provided some olive oil, marmalade and fruit as a gift upon arrival. You will need your own condiments, kitchen roll, etc. The nearest supermarket is priced for tourists but there’s a Lidl about 5km away. Speaking of location, you’re about 5 minutes walk from the beach down a quiet street, then across a busy road at a pedestrian crossing. Close enough you wouldn’t think twice about going there and back multiple times in a day or nipping back if you’ve forgotten something. One thing to be aware of is that the apartment we had had a shower over the bath and a very low ceiling - I’m 193cm and the shower head was about level with my shoulder. If you’re tall you’ll be used to this experience but it may be worth asking whether any of the apartments are better suited for tall people.

Location was convenient, near the grocery stores, restaurants and public transport as well as nearby the beach. The owners are very sweet and helpful. Good location to travel to Kissamos or the main/old city of Chania.

Antonis & Melina waren sehr gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit! Die Unterkunft ist nicht weit vom Meer gelegen (ca. 5-7 Minuten zu Fuß). Die Wohnung waren sauber, und es war alles da, was man tagtäglich benötigt. Insgesamt haben wir unseren Urlaub sehr genossen!

Super cute little family run house!

Good location, if you prefer peace and quiet - everything is still very close (couple of supermarkets and many restaurants about 3-5min walking distance, close to the beach as well). We stayed in a room with a kitchenette and a separate bedroom. Having breakfast on the balcony while enjoying the sea view - getting lost in the waves, was just incredible. Melina and Antonius are amazing hosts - they have a great sense of humor and are easy to talk to. They also went the extra mile helping us really feel at home (looked up bus schedules for places we wanted to see, helped us with renting a car when all the places nearby were already booked, found a good gym for us etc.) Cannot thank them enough - wish you all the best guys!

Our stay was marvelous, highly recommended! A wonderful welcome! We arrived quite late (around 11pm) and the hotel's owner waited for us and gave us a wonderful welcome. The room had a beautiful welcome package included: raisins, olive oil, orange jam, a bottle of Samaria Water, and even a bit of Greek Liquor. A very unexpected but thoughtful welcome. Location The property location is excellent, just 5 min walking distance from the beach, bus station to Chania, ATM, restaurants, and supermarket. Spaciousness, quietness, comfort We stayed in a 2 room apartment with 4 beds, a balcony (amazing sea view), a kitchen and a private bathroom. The balcony had a table and chairs, so we could enjoy eating or relaxing there enjoying the beautiful sea view. The rooms were very spacious, clean, and the beds super comfortable. Each room had independent AC. The kitchen was very well equipped which was very convenient because we cooked a lot during our stay. When the balcony door was open, we could hear the relaxing sound of the waves. The hotel is very quiet for a relaxing evening/night. The cleaning lady came every other day to do the cleaning. The room also had a TV and many pillows available to increase our comfort. Very safe! Interaction with owner Mr. Antonis was very friendly and helpful. He made sure we had a comfortable stay. We will definitely go back to stay at Melina's hotel and we highly recommend the place. Perfect place to stay alone, as a couple or with your family.

Owner was very odd. When we arrived, we rang the doorbell for her apartment. She then entered the hotel and didn't ask us any questions. She simply looked at us with an expectant look. We told her we had a reservation and under which name it was. She simply kept grunting at us but did not talk. She finally pointed to a note she had written to tell us to go to our room and the key was in the door. She showed us to the room then started speaking (so we now knew her lack of communication was not because she couldn't speak English). The room was dirty. There was mold on the shower tiles and door. The air conditioner in the main room did not work and the air conditioner in the other room was very weak. There was a cat that kept trying to get into the apartment and would move between the window to the door. It did get in initially when we were not paying attention and started biting a yogurt container on the counter. THE WORST PART: We went out to Chania for dinner (about a 25 min drive away) at about 8pm. The owners knew we had left as we chatted with the husband before getting into our car. When we returned to our room, there was a receipt on the table where they charged my credit card for the hotel. They had signed the receipt under the customer part and had made a signature which looked like my name. They had also moved some of our stuff in the room and had closed a window we had kept open (at the top, so the cat could not come in) because it was warm.

Anfitriones de lujo.

Si se busca por sobre todas las cosas un buen servicio y ambiente amable y servicial, este es el lugar ideal. La familia es un encanto, llenos de detalles, desde una bienvenida en la habitación con frutas, raki, aceite de oliva, agua y zumos, hasta tarta y galletas caseras de regalo el dia de pascua. Después de regresar cansados de una larga caminata, Antonis nos invito a café, raki y su mujer nos convido con un riquísimo dulce casero. Tanto los dueños como su hija nos dieron muy buenas recomendaciones. La habitación es amplia, muy limpia, con una pequeña cocina bien equipada y una cama muy comoda. El entorno es tranquilo, pero cerca de restaurantes, supermercados y una bonita playa. Recomiendo Melinas House al 100% y esperamos volver pronto.

Kato Stalos and Melina’s.

Melina’s is an ideal place to stay in the north west of crete. Kato Stalos is at the end of the maleme gerani platanias Agia Marina strip. It is in my opinion the nicest part. Melina’s is just up the slight hill and a nice quiet area which I suspect would be appreciated by summer visitors. Hosts are lovely and welcoming. Rooms are clean and have pretty much everything you need no matter what time of the year. There is no pool but a lovely beach is only a short walk away. Would highly recommend walk to Agia lake - you will be surprised at this lovely place. Restaurants are highly recommended in this area too. We went early season but saw Levitas (?) in old town and the views were stunning unfortunately it was closed as was Amathystos which is highly recommended. Marias and Domitian were however gorgeous and food was excellent every night. Euripides howl and bar was also excellent and would recommend food and local wine - staff were very friendly too. Erountas in Agia Marina was also nice. Thanks to all at Melinas and Kato Stalos for a wonderful time.

Quiet friendly apartments

I booked this about three days before I travelled....what an excellent find. The apartment was clean and fresh with a balcony looking across towards the sea which was about 5 mins stroll away. The apartment was well equipped with cooking facilities. Being slightly off the beaten track, the vicinity is very quiet especially at night although there are numerous tavernas, coffee houses and bars in easy walking distance. There is a good internet connection. Ndonis and Melinda were very welcoming hosts.

Spędziliśmy tu 4 dni. Szukaliśmy miejsca bez hotelowego zgiełku, komfortowego i w dobrej lokalizacji. Apartament w rzeczywistości odpowiada temu co zobaczyliśmy na zdjęciach. Czysto, przytulnie. Właściciele serdeczni i bardzo pomocni. Znaleźliśmy Melinas house na faceboku i zobaczyliśmy, że właściciele prowadzą również winnicę. Gdy zapytaliśmy o tą winnicę gospodarz poczęstował nas swoim winem. Wyborne! Ważne - jest miejsce do zaparkowania auta. W pobliżu wiele restauracji i sklepów. z pewnością tu jeszcze wrócimy! Famille francaise avec un enfant

Hotel au calme, a 5 minutes a pied de la plage, accès rapide à la nationale pour partir sur la Canee ou d'autres villes. Toute la famille Des proprietaire est disponible pour vous accueillir chaleureusement. Commerces et restaurants à proximité. Balcon avec vue mer très agreable pour prendre un repas ou son petit déjeuner. Chambre petite mais confortable, salle de bain petite et douche très étroite, aspect de la chambre vieillot, mais on a l'impression d'être dans la maison de la famille. Hotel sympa pour passer quelques jours.

Perfect for a family holiday !

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was very adequate for a family of four. Clean and tidy with decent wifi. The hosts are fantastic and always happy to help and point you in the right direction. The hotel is walking distance to the beach and a short drive to Chania town. Perfect for a family holiday as Kato Stalos is quieter than its neighbouring tourist areas. We would definitely stay here again.
