Top Charleston Hotel Reviews

The Vendue
8/10 Good
"We arrived early but our rooms were not ready until much later than 4:00. We ended up waiting for over an hour in the lobby, which was not the best but we were able to review the art pieces. We did not start with the right foot. The rooms were very large but unfortunately we got them on the side of Bay St. and it was pretty noisy outside. The location is great. Very comfortable bed and very strong shower."

Indigo Inn
10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful property! The staff was super friendly and the bed was very comfortable. I loved the cheese and wine spread! Can’t beat the location. Would definitely stay here again."

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Charleston Riverview
4/10 Poor
"The hotel is in a good location convenient to downtown Charleston and the staff was polite but the room was filthy on check in, bathroom had mildew in the shower, thick dust around the sides of the bed - especially by the nightstands - and the insides of the drawers were dirty. We requested a room cleaning showing the clerk pictures of the room and they took care of the bathroom and remade the bed but the rest of the room remained dusty and dirty. There was also trash piled up in the alcove by the ice machine. We prepaid for the room so we decided to make the best of it and not lose the money we paid. Breakfast was okay, we did not try the pool."

The Francis Marion Hotel
8/10 Good
"Hotel was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and in a great location. Any type of cuisine you could want is within a 10 minute walk along with lots of restaurants serving up local fare. Staff was super helpful and for a hotel that is over 100 years old, it was very well kept and clean. Only complaint is that beds are full size, not queen so be sure to pay close attention when booking. I did not and found it difficult for our party of 3 to sleep in only two beds. Staff was amazing about bringing in a twin size roll away when I asked for one... but it unfortunately was also very uncomfortable. And the Starbucks was closed. Those are my only complaints. Otherwise hotel was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and in a great location. We were only there for a weekend but we really enjoyed our stay in Charleston."

The Ryder Hotel
6/10 Okay
"The room walls were thin- can hear everything in the hallway and adjacent rooms. Pool was always full; difficult at any time of day to get a spot and front desk was not very knowledgeable. Restaurant had decent food, rooms were very clean, coffee shop was great, and so was the location- close to everything!"

Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Historic District
6/10 Okay
"Shower leak constantly, couch with worn out, paint needed touch up, palmetto bugs, staff unable to handle volume of people for happy hour."

Hampton Inn Charleston-Historic District
10/10 Excellent
"Great location and great hotel! The only thing we missed was a refrigerator in the room but we dealt with it. Wouldn’t give up such a great location for a refrigerator!! Would stay here again!!"

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charleston DWTN - Medical CTR by IHG
4/10 Poor
"I would not recommend this hotel. We chose it due to its location (close to Charleston), pool and breakfast. However it was difficult to appreciate due to disappointments we encountered. We arrived at the appropriate check-in time to find that 2 of our 3 rooms were not ready. The receptionist could not tell us when they would be ready- we had a dinner reservation so 8 of us had to get ready in one room. The bathrooms were very worn down. (There are signs suggesting renovation is occurring-we saw no evidence.)Due to the lack of bathroom hooks we had to hang towels/washcloths on tub. The next day several of them had dark mold from the tub. There were never any towels at pool. (We noticed several cockroaches at the pool and my in-laws found one in their room.)The receptionist put our payments on the wrong credit card-which complicated check-out. I feel sorry for staff members as this hotel seems completely understaffed-which I'm sure is at the root of many of these problems. The price of this hotel is not equivalent to the experience provided."
