My family really loves this area of Michigan. The cottage is so conveniently located that you can get to Charlevoix, Boyne and Petoskey quickly. It was also very quiet and relaxing. The private beach access is nice. The kitchen was well suppplied. Plenty of towels and blankets. Just bring your food and swimsuit!
Lovely property between Boyne and Charlevoix on the lake! Perfect for our family with two small children and my MIL. The kitchen was stocked and we cooked almost every night! The waterfront beach was perfect for the kids, fire pit for smores! Communication was great with the host. Beds super comfortable. We didn’t rent or bring a boat but would be a great spot for this with the dock access. Definitely would come back to this place!
The house is in a great location. It was well stocked with paper products, towels, bedding, and kitchen utensils. The bedrooms and common area were nice sizes. Washer and dryer were nice. The house was musty and there was food left there with a 2019 expiration date. Food should be removed after every stay. Some of the bedding needs to be replaced. The mattress pad on one bed was in shreds. I bought a replacement so I could sleep.
Stayed at the lakehouse for a week with my family. The shoreline and dock has a small protected inlet which is very nice for playing on the private beach area and breaking up the Lake Charlevoix waves, which at times can get significant at times. The house sits very close to the water and you hear the waves lapping up against the shore every night, so peaceful! We brought our boat and explored the entire Charlevoix system, south arm and even went out to lake MI on a couple calm days and anchored up @ one of the best petosky stone hunting beaches we have ever seen! Mike was nice enough to let us use the Shorestation boatlift on the property which had a mechanical issue initially when we got there, we relayed this to Mike and to our suprise the lift company had it fixed the next day, amazing! Overall we had a great weekend exploring all lake Charlevoix and the surrounding areas had to offer. The lakehouse was a little rustic but overall was clean, comfortable, kitchen was well outfitted and worked out fantastic for our family trip! Thanks so much!
Property has everything for an up north getaway with the family. Plenty of room in the house and a great location to explore the lake, Charlevoix, Boyne and Petoskey. All the amenities are there. The host is very accommodating and responsive. It's definitely a hidden gem im my book.
The best compliment that I can give is that I’ve rented it again next year for our family to enjoy again! There’s something here for all ages (wonderful protected beach/swim area, quiet neighbors, fun rustic movie area for the kids, to name a few). This is an older home that has maintained its rustic charm. For the price, it would be difficult to beat!
Very Clean, spacious, extremely well provisioned. Convenient to Charlevoix, Petoskey, Boyne, Bridge & U.P. Total of 4 adults & 4 kids, Lots of windows facing lake, so easy to keep an eye on the kids on the beach.
Will defonaty consider again for future.
The house was very dirty. Had food left over in pantry that caused a severe ant problem. Kitchen fridge didn’t work which also created a problem with ants in the fridge. Only 3 burners on the stove were working. After one load of wash, the septic backed up into the master bathtub, utility tub and toilet. The dock was only partially installed. After a complaint to owner, it was finished for 1 1/2 days use. The landscapers came on Thursday to cut grass disrupting our day. After continuous efforts to connect to the internet, owner informed us there was no internet. Huge inconvenience for those attempting to work. To say the least, we were very dissatisfied. Over promised, under delivered.
As my siblings and I have aged out of camping, we have been doing cottage rentals across MI. This is the first one we really want to come back to. The location is ideal being halfway between Charlevoix and Boyne. The private water access was great. There were 5 of us this trip, and all of us felt like we had a lot of space. With the cottage being a ranch, it was easy on us - not hauling luggage up stairs. The bathrooms were normal (no funky forced in showers that felt like washing in a broom closet). We read a review saying the property was dirty, but we found everything clean and well stocked. I think that person may confuse dirty with being in an older house.
Great time on the lake. Wonderful location, feels like you are back in time. We loved being so close to town and yet still on the water. Can’t wait to stay again.
We had a great time staying here! The cottage is very spacious and well stocked with anything you could need. The private beach is perfect, my 2 year old could not get enough. Super close to charlevoix, boyne city and petoskey. we had the best time!
My family of 11 spent last week at this quaint lake property. The house was roomier than we expected and well equipped with cookware, utensils, towels etc. The laundry facility and 2nd refrigerator were much appreciated. The grounds were perfect for our group with outdoor seating, very nice dock, boat lift, fire pit with wood, grill, sandy beach and grassy area for our little ones on which to play. One negative, both toilets were leaky at the base; we soaked up with paper towels daily. Probably need seals replaced.
Mike was great to work with, a good communicator, and was helpful answering all of our questions. He genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay, and we certainly did!

3rd bedroom needs attention
The house wasn't bad, but when you rent a 3 BR house, you'd like to be able to use all three bedrooms. One of the bedrooms had a really bad musty smell, maybe even a mold issue. The other two bedrooms were fine. When I brought this to the attention of the owner, he wasn't very understanding. I had to fix the owner's shore station/boat lift upon arrival as well. I'd consider other properties that are probably better taken care of.

Family Fun Time on Lake Charlevoix
My family of 8 adults and 3 kids spent last week in this wonderful cottage. Upon arrival we were very impressed by both the roominess and cleanliness of the cottage and grounds. It's obvious the owners know what it takes to create a relaxing, fun-filled week on the lake, by providing many toys, lounge chairs, boat hoist, wood for the fire, etc. The extra fridge in the laundry room was so handy to keep all our beverages in, reserving the kitchen fridge for food. The kitchen was well stocked, clean, with plenty of counter space. We all enjoyed the large dining table and game table in the same room as the couch so we could all be together without feeling on top of each other. The neighbors were all helpful and friendly, making us feel welcome. The owner Mike is very pleasant to work with. Thank you Voorhees View for making our week so wonderful!

Great spot on the lake!
We couldn't have asked for better weather and a better spot on the lake. The cottage is much larger then appears in pictures. Our family of 5, 3 kids ages 10-16, had plenty of space for down time. The cottage is well laid out with great views of the lake from most of house. The house and kitchen were well supplied and very clean. The owner was easy to work with and even had full time residents nearby in case anything was needed.

If It Wasn't for the Lake!!
We stayed there in 2014 in month of July. The house was dirty, smelled damp. Esp. In the far back bedroom with wood paneling. The Kitchen was the best room. It was clean and cozy like a cottage. The large couch in living room was uncomfortable and noticeably old.
The blue bathroom was dirty on arrival. The garbage can was still full from last renter and the neighbors/caretakers finally picked it up. They had been on vacation.
I've stayed on this lake many times and this property is by far not near the price they charge.
Lastly the dock was rickety and wobbly which is bad for children and elderly adults.

Had a beautiful vacation!
We have rented several lakefront homes/cottages, and this was truly our favorite! The house was clean and comfortable - nice furniture and new carpeting. Plenty of room for us and our 4 kids, but may have been a little crowded with 8 or more if you get a couple days of rain. Two TV's with movies and video games to kept the kids happy in the evenings and on rainy days - we didn't hear "I'm bored" once. The nearby nature trails allowed the older kids freedom to explore and have some time to themselves.
The house had everything we needed - beach toys for the younger kids, kitchen utensils and flatware, lawn chairs, and two refrigerators eliminated the need for repeated trips to the store. It's obvious that the owners put a lot of effort into making sure we had everything - right down to the beach towels and the spare LP tank for the grill.
The location was perfect - 15 minutes to either Charlevoix or Boyne City, and perfect distance for a day trip to Mackinac Island or Traverse city. The lake is big enough that we didn't hear the constant droning of jet-ski's typical of smaller lakes.
If you have one, definitely bring your boat! Shoppers' docks at Charlevoix, and public slips at Boyne City allowed us to do most everything we needed to do from the water, without the need to deal with peak season traffic and parking. Plus so many other things to see and do on the boat - Lake Michigan, Oyster Bay, waterfront dining, sunsets - you can spend the entire week on the water.
The neighbors were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. On our day of departure we had to pack up and hurry off ahead of an approaching storm, so we never had a chance to thank them, but they truly made the difference.
