Wauhatchie Blue pool house withprivate spa
Summary:
This charmingly renovated 100-year-old home is just 5 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. It comfortably sleeps up to 8 people and shares a resort-style pool and patio with two other homes. Please note that the pool is a shared space, and parties are prohibited.
The Space:
The Blue House is part of Wauhatchie Woodlands, a collection of quaint, tiny-home, rustic-comfort log cabins on a 14-acre wooded property surrounded by National Park land. The property is owned and operated by Timberroot, a small, family-owned business that specializes in creating rustic spaces that allow you to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature.
This natural setting is nested less than a mile from the city, with quick access to downtown Chattanooga, Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain, and the surrounding area.
We've lovingly updated this historic home while retaining all of its original character. An open floorplan and an abundance of windows make for a bright, airy space, with beautiful forest views on all sides. The high plank ceilings enhance the space and make bunk beds cozy and very accommodating.
The main room features a galley kitchen, dining room, and living area with Smart TV. A stained dining deck off of the kitchen offers outdoor dining space for six and a charcoal grill (charcoal not include). Behind the home is an intimate outdoor living space with a cushioned sectional sofa and the large private Hot Tub.
The main bedroom features a king bed, Smart TV, and ensuite bathroom. The bunk room has one full and three twin beds. Parents will love the privacy of the main suite and can easily sleep up to five kids in the bunk room.
The Blue House is in a compound with two other homes, the May Family Home and Skyuka Chalet. The homes share a stunning, heated resort-style pool with an expansive flagstone patio. On the patio, you'll find lounge seating, an outdoor fireplace, and an outdoor kitchen with a covered dining pavilion.
The pool is closed during winter, typically from October to March.
The ground floor of the Chalet serves as the poolhouse for all three properties. Guests have access to a shared washer and dryer, a workout room, poolside showers, and toilets.
The Blue House is more than just a house; it's a true forested resort just a tiny hop from downtown Chattanooga.
Chattanooga is a city known for its railroads. There are active train tracks that border the property to the north and I-24 is about half a mile away. Please note that light sleepers may be affected by the ambient city and train noise. Each cabin has been equipped with a white noise machine to help minimize any disturbance.
Pack' n Play Travel cribs are available upon request.
To make sure your stay at the Blue House is perfect, our locally based Guest Services representatives are on-call from 8 am to 11 pm, seven days a week.

This was perfect for our stay with four adults and five kids. We had a little trouble finding it but not too bad, it was a great location, and the hosts were very communicative and helpful. Highly recommend!
Only stayed one night but it was very clean and convenient for Ruby Falls, See Rock City and, downtown. Our small group enjoyed the hot tub and bunk room. Would definitely stay again!
I rented this for my husband and a couple of his buddies to go on a guys trip and they had a great time! There was plenty of room for everyone and they all enjoyed the hot tub very much!
The three houses surrounding the pool make for a great location for a family reunion. Secluded but close to everything. Loved the addition of a Pickelball court on the property.
This was our second time at the blue house and I would be happy to book there again.
The house has everything my family needs for a quiet lovely get away.
We enjoyed our stay for one night at this house. The property entrance is strange to get to but the directions provided by the host help. The hot tub was wonderful and clean, sound machines for the constant train noises were a great touch, extra mattress and fans were unexpected and nice to have access to. Would stay again!
Cozy house, the pool is an added bonus.
Great location! Our family love the house.
One suggestion, the frying pans and most of the cookware needs to be replaced.
Great location. Nice, comfy, clean and all the necessities needed. We used the pool and jacuzzi. Saw squirrels and crows on the property.
Visited Point Park, Rock City, Lookout Mountain, Tennessee Train Museum, Aquarium, Art Museum, Incline Railway & the Carousel at the park. Ate at Odell’s x2, Pucketts, Flaming Rooster & Clumpies Ice Cream. I ran the Skyuka Springs Trail, Walnut Street Bridge area & Mr Ts pizza area.
We had an amazing few days! The property is very peaceful. The house is very open and was a breath up fresh air! Loved the hot tub as well. Well stocked with towels, soaps, and toilet paper. The trains that come through are different at first, but become very much part of the atmosphere after night one if you are not used to them. Our first night back home we actually missed them! Just minutes away from Rock City and Ruby Falls and lots of great places to eat, which is what we went for. Had a little bit of an ant problem our last day with donuts we had on the counter in the box. Had to toss them! Other than the kids being upset they didn’t have donuts for breakfast, we had an amazing day! We would definitely stay here again!
Cute house, great amenities, beautiful location and world-class hosts. I was most impressed by the host reps who not only talked me through finding the house late at night when we arrived but also quickly got folks out the next day to trim some low hanging tree branches along the driveway that were hitting the roof of our van. My family and i had a great time and appreciate the great service we received!
We had a nice time, once we figured out how to maneuver that driveway, all was great! If you're heading there to this house specifically, be sure to read the directions to the exact driveway!
Nice house with a big relaxing hot tub. The pool is was shared, very nice, and is right across the driveway from the house. Location was a little hidden but close to Chattanooga.
The house was clean and well prepared. The property was nice. Kind of hard to get to the house but the directions given helped a lot. The trains passing were loud.

Good house, but a few issues
The house comfortably fit our family of 4, and was in a relatively good location for the touristy stuff. It was definitely good value for the price we paid.
But we had some issues:
- finding the house was very difficult. Make sure you closely read the fine print instructions sent by the mgmt company
- the house isn’t being maintained very well. Lots of broken lights/lamps. Lots of little things not being maintained…as an rental host myself, I think this is a failure of the management company
- the hot tub was unexpectedly not heated when we arrived. When I called about it, the mgmt company basically said “oh yeah, we had maintenance on them today”. After multiple calls to try and remediate, they eventually gave me a $35 credit.
