Our quiet cottage offers you a peaceful and ideal base to explore the Saintonge Dorée region between ocean and cognac vineyards, a stone's throw from the Poitevin marshes and Saintes. Established in a traditional Charente village, surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers, it benefits from a climate allowing you to spend sunny days. Located 5 minutes from Aulnay de Saintonge (its exceptional Romanesque art listed by UNESCO, the way to Santiago de Compostela), 15 minutes from Saint Jean d'Angely (stage on the way to Tours leading to Compostela, its royal abbey, its various monuments and streets steeped in history to visit).
Take your family for a walk or bike ride in the Charente countryside. The Saintonge Dorée is a territory rich in its exceptional architectural heritage. Many Romanesque churches are visible in many villages in the Saintonge countryside. Castles and houses in Saintonge are must-sees. The Saintonge Dorée is crossed by the Voie de Tours, one of the routes to Santiago de Compostela. Discover the wildlife of Europe with Zoodysée, and come and meet the emblematic animal of the region, the Poitou donkey, in a unique place in the world: the Pôle-Nature of the Baudet du Poitou donkey farm in Dampierre sur Boutonne.
The region is renowned for its vineyards (Cognac, Pineau des Charentes, but also wines), its market garden products (Charentais melons), its dairy products (goat and cow cheeses, Charentes-Poitou butter). Visit the coast of Charente-Maritime, the Charente island domain (islands of Ré, Oléron and Aix, ...), Royan, Fouras, Talmont, La Rochelle, Rochefort, and many others.
