The host welcomed us & stayed in contact throughout our stay. The house was in a good location near the Naval Academy for our son’s graduation. All amenities were fine, however w/ no access to a washer-dryer it would have been nice to know there would only be 1 bath towel per person(8 people) for a 6 day stay. If we would have known we could have packed some extra towels but since we didn’t we had to use the same towel for 6 days.

Exactly what we needed for close range to the naval base

Home was exactly as described. Such an easy drive to the navy base for our recruits graduation. The Home was able to fit the whole family!

We traveled from California for our son’s RTC bootcamp graduation. It was 3 degrees outside and the home was cozy and warm when we arrived. The home is nice and close to base which made it fantastic for picking up tickets, and our Sailor. The host was very kind and quick to respond if we had a question about anything. Great fenced in parking for our rental car in the alley. Would highly recommend.

Convenient Location and Roomy House

Lots of room and home was clean. Beds were comfortable. Sam who was our contact was responsive about troubles using the coded door knob. We had an issue with the fridge/freezer not working at arrival, but we had some tools with us and were able to remedy it on our own after we notified Sam. It is close to the base but noise isn't a big issue other some traffic noise to front from upstairs bedroom - it didn't impede our sleep.

Pros- Well maintained older home with very comfortable beds. Host was responsive and the home is spacious and very close to all your needs for a Navy Bootcamp graduation. Less than 2 miles from the graduation site.Cons- we stayed here during a very cold winter week in Chicago. Heating system could not warm the home adequately. We wore our coats inside to stay warm.The electricity in the front room (with the fooseball table) did not work.The front door to the home remains locked, so if you have food delivered you have to go out the back door and walk around the home to the front to retrieve it. During a very cold Chicago week (-17) this was inconvenient.Overall we did enjoy our stay, my recommendation would be to upgrade the heating system to the home. Thank you.

Navy Graduation

Thank you very much! This was the perfect location for my son‘s navy graduation it accommodated everyone and I was able to do all my cooking for a huge friend and family meal. The rooms were very spacious and the living area was perfect for hosting the extra friends and family That came over to celebrate the navy graduation Thanksgiving and Christmas all wrapped up into one. The location was only four minutes for pick up and drop off, which was absolutely perfect. There was no time wasted on the road not getting to see my son. I want to personally thank the host for accommodating our needs. It was very much appreciated.!!!

Roof over your head

The home was exactly as described—a basic roof over our heads with no real luxury. It was relatively clean, though nothing special. We had just enough towels for the duration of our stay, and the beds weren’t particularly comfortable. The biggest advantage was its location, just down the street from the Navy Base where my son was graduating. Aside from that, there wasn’t much else to highlight, though the space itself was quite large.Check-in was easy, and the management company was accommodating when I spoke with them. Overall, it was a decent deal for the price and convenience. However, the neighborhood felt a bit sketchy. That said, it served its purpose for what we needed.

Nice place, sketchy neighborhood

I agree with all of the reviews that the location to Recruit Training Command is second to none. We picked up and dropped off my son every day no problem. It was extremely convenient. What people should be aware of is the neighborhood is a bit rough. The place is on a fairly major road, so road noise and street lighting is a constant presence. The place is definitely "humble" in the beds are not the most comfortable, and odd things like the hot and cold water are swapped in a couple faucets. You will not sneak up on anyone in this place as the floorboards creak everywhere! Having said that, I had zero issues. I ran into one of the neighbors who was very friendly. I would stay there again.

It worked

If you’re looking for a place that’s clean and no communication from the owners then this is the place for you. We would not have booked if we would have seen outside pictures that showed the boarded up house next door. The drive way is fully fenced in and difficult to navigate. Neighborhood is a bit questionable. The house is on a super busy street which was noisy. We did not receive check in details until we reached out to VRBO to obtain the hosts contact information an hour before our check in time and never received any check out instructions. The house was decently clean. It was very close to the Naval base which made it convenient for pick up and drop off of our graduate so it worked for our basic needs.

Our stay was perfect! It was very close to the Naval base, allowing us to walk to graduation in under twenty minutes. Our host was also top notch!! We had a situation come up and she drove out of her way to accommodate our need! Highly recommend!!

For the most part this property was exactly as expected. However when we landed in Chicago we received a phone call from the owner stating that the master bathroom shower was no longer usable due to a hole in the tub and that we could still use the toilet and sink as a half bath. This wouldn’t have been a problem but we needed the whole bathroom there was 8 of us staying in the house with only 1 full bathroom and when you’re all trying to get ready that is a nightmare. It would have been easier to stay at a hotel and have enough bathrooms for everyone. We were there for 5 days and never contacted to have someone come in to repair or even adjust the cost for the inconvenience. But if you have a large party the property was clean it’s just an older home.

House was clean. Ellie the host was very hospitable. Had some electrical issues after a windstorm and was quickly addressed. Just a breaker needing reset. As far as my son's pass and review, this place is within 5 to 10 min. Of everything you need to do to have a great stay. The NEX to pick up tickets is like 3 min way and the base is like 7 min. Definitely a great location to accomplish all things you need to do. Highly recommend.

Prime central location for Navy graduation weekend or to stay while visiting sailor who is in A school on the Great Lakes Naval Station. Four bedrooms perfect for a family, Unit was extremely clean. Owner communicates well very responsive.

Excellent location (less than 2 miles from GL Naval Station) for families attending Seaman Recruit boot camp graduation. 4 bdrms & 2 1/2 baths were perfect for several family members in town for graduation. Especially when our new Sailor was granted overnight liberty. Large family room area and separate large dining area were perfect for relaxing and when we ordered dinner in vs trying to go out.

The owner of the property was easy to communicate with and very helpful. Our family has stayed at two houses from the owner and each house is beautiful and well taken care of. Two graduations from Navy boot camp and two pleasant stays! I would recommend this house or any other of the owners properties.
