Young children will absolutely love the mixture of play and learning in this museum designed just for them.

The Children’s Museum of Denver is aimed squarely at children up to the age of eight, and provides them with a fantastic range of interactive displays and exhibits. These include learning areas based on science, the alphabet, water, the role of a veterinarian and what a fireman does. The museum has been loved in Denver since its 1973 opening on a school bus, all the way up to its present-day incarnation. Well over 300,000 children, parents, teachers and other caregivers come through the doors every year. The fantastic Fire Station No. 1 contains a real fire engine, a bed and kitchen, and the famous fireman's pole. Youngsters are encouraged to dress up as fire-fighters themselves and to play in this area, imagining themselves responding to a blaze. They also learn how to respond in the event of a fire in their own home or school.Ready Vet Go allows children to examine animals in a real way, through being shown how the instruments that are used in their care function. This includes a genuine x-ray machine. Moving on to My Market, they'll find a mini version of a supermarket, which allows children to “do the shopping themselves”. A large part of this area is about teaching the importance of a balanced and healthy diet. This ethos is carried over to the museums café, which offers sandwiches, salads and pasta. You can also eat a packed lunch in here.Infants and toddlers are catered for in the Centre for the Young Child, opened in 2000 is response to feedback from parents. This soft and safe space is perfect for the very young to enjoy themselves in an age-appropriate environment, under the watchful eye of a parent or other supervisor.Classes and programmes are run throughout the year, with specific monthly themes, such as learning about the mysteries of the back garden. The Children’s Museum of Denver in found in the Central Platte Valley, near to the Platte Bike Trail. It's a very brief drive from the city centre, and parking is free of charge.
