Osprey Nest- Waterfront on Chincoteague Bay w/ Pier

Address: 4405 Salt Marsh Landing, Chincoteague Island, VA

A comfortably appointed coastal retreat perched on the tranquil edge of Chincoteague Bay.

Set in one of the island’s most peaceful waterfront locations, Osprey Nest offers sweeping, unobstructed views of the bay, salt marsh, and abundant wildlife. Watch herons glide over the water, ospreys returning to their nests, and fishing boats making their slow morning passes—all from the comfort of your home. The property sits just minutes from Chincoteague’s charming shops and restaurants, and a short drive from the wild beaches and famed ponies of Assateague Island.

Designed with an inverted floor plan to showcase the scenery, the home’s upper-level features panoramic windows that bring the outdoors in, along with an open kitchen, dining area, living room, and half bath. Sunlight, sky, and water surround you from every angle.

Downstairs, the two waterfront queen bedrooms each include their own private balcony - perfect for lingering over morning coffee or savoring sunsets that paint the bay in gold. Two additional bedrooms feature twin beds. All four bedrooms offer full private baths, providing comfort and privacy for every guest.

A large, screened porch offers shaded breezes and views of the marsh, while the shared dock invites crabbing, fishing, birdwatching, or quietly taking in the shifting tides and spectacular evening colors.

Osprey Nest is a peaceful sanctuary with some of the best views on the bay - an ideal place to unwind, explore, and experience the natural beauty of Chincoteague.

Spacious house with beautiful views but beware of high water

The house was great for a group of two couples and two adult children, as each couple/person had their own bedroom and bath. We enjoyed the screened-in porch, large living/dining room, and well-equipped kitchen. However, prospective guests should be aware that the house is built over water, and at high tide, it was impossible leave the house without wading through water about 8 inches deep. The description does not disclose this problem, nor did it make clear that no towels are provided. When I wrote to the manager to ask about towels and other items, I got no response. The charcoal grill was in poor condition and the dim lighting on the porch limited its usefulness. I was also surprised, given the high cleaning fee, that we were responsible for stripping the beds and dropping the linens off in town, especially with a 10 am check out.
