Stayed there for 2 nights over the long holiday weekend ending 3/May/2015 and our experience was wonderful. Arrived well before check-in time, hoping to drop off luggage before heading out to Iguazu Fall across the border in Brazil. The staff was marvelously efficient and friendly. The room was ready and they checked us in right away, even though we had arrived so early. The room was in the "new wing", although from the hallways this wing didn't appear any different from the older wing. The room itself was quite spacious, with two queen beds, immaculate, and well-appointed. The bathroom was ultra modern and everything worked (instant hot water and an invigorating showerhead). The toiletries were generous and quite nice....the mini bar was well-stocked. The view lovely. We found strong wi-fi signal in the room and throughout the hotel. The hotel was quite full that weekend, but we encountered none of the issues other reviewers have commented on (no unruly guests, loud noises, long waits, etc). There's a casino on site but in a separate building. So if gaming is not your thing, it's not in-your-face like Las Vegas. I've had to travel to Ciudad del Este on several occasions and, in my opinion, there is no better place to stay.
That said...manage expectations about the city itself. Ciudad del Este is a chaotic border town. Traffic is a nightmare, drivers view pedestrians as fair game, downtown is barely bearable, and outlying areas are dicey. But that is the town, not the hotel.
