Wooden French doors on all decks makes an easy flow from indoor to outdoors. From the wrap around sun decks, watch sail boats and yachts go by. At night, the Galaxy is your theatre! Walk down the driveway to a beautiful, secluded, sandy beach - great for sun bathing or jogging.
    Come snorkel in the world famous Dean's Blue Hole. Then take an island tour and explore the natural caves, taste the delicious conch salad and other native dishes at various restaurants along the way. Long Island is a very special place — wild, beautiful, friendly and full of undiscovered gems. We loved every aspect of Ryan’s Oceanview, a tastefully furnished, comfortable, and dramatically sited haven. The pictures hardly do it justice, although they are accurate, but being able to have a 360 view from sunrise to sunset is just breathtaking. We appreciated the house’s many amenities, from temperature control to excellent linens and well supplied kitchen, the main deck, with different areas for lounging or outside dining, and the lower deck, right on the water, for dramatic views and sunbathing. And the hot tub was a special plus! There are a few nearby houses with friendly and helpful neighbors, but far enough away to ensure total privacy. Bill was the ideal host – replying to every query both before our stay and while we were there within 15 minutes, and solving any minor problem with alacrity. But be prepared for the limited shopping and dining opportunities on the island – no stores near the house, and limited supplies in the few small groceries within a half hour drive. Among the wonderful experiences of our monthlong stay— Gordon’s Beach Bar with the unforgettable Ernest; beautiful straw creations by Charles Wallace, whose tiny stand is on the way to Gordon’s; the spectacular Blue Hole; Fords Beach; the Long Island Historical Museum; Erica’s Bakery; the ecotour with Francis from Under the Sun; and the Saturday farmers market near the one larger grocery, Hillside.

This house has everything you could possibly want or need. The views are amazing and the jacuzzi is just what we have been looking for. When staying in the southern end of Long Island this is a must stay place.

Terrific home south of Clarence Town!

Ryan’s ocean view was a perfect place to stay while exploring southern Long Island. Communication pre arrival was flawless and we were greeted (like royalty) upon arrival. This was our family’s 4 Long Island stay- and we found everything at Ryan’s Ocean View clean, well taken care of, and we’ll thought out for anyone traveling to Long Island. Amazing home, amazing Island !

Long Island is a place to explore. Be ready to take the 'road less travelled' at times to find some of the amazing best kept secret beaches. Patrice, Ryan and Ingrid are fabulous hosts that will assist you in any way guiding you towards any particular experience or service you require. Eat at Outer Edge Marina for great food and amazing service and make a visit up to the Cape Santa Maria Resort for an afternoon, beautiful place. Long Island is a place we will definitely revisit.

Fabulous experience

Ryan's Ocean View was the perfect choice for our family holiday. The house was exceptional and well equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub was a bonus. The beach right in front of the house was great and the location was close to so many other great beaches like Galloway, Gordon's, Bon Accord and the very fun Dean's Blue Hole. Bill and Patrice were excellent hosts and were very responsive to all of our inquiries. Overall it was a great experience and we would recommend Ryan's Ocean View to anyone planning to visit beautiful Long Island.

Just what we wanted, and more

Spent a wonderful week exploring the island. Bill met us at the airport with the car and even took to the grocery and liquor store on the way down! View and hot tub are outstanding. House is well-appointed. Be prepared; you are on the ocean side and there may be windy days, but you can find less wind on the leeward side (Galloway, Ford’s, Gordon’s beaches). This is one of the Out Islands and we’ve experienced power failures on all of them; just roll with it. It will come back on. Bill and Patrice kept us updated and checked in daily. Use Trip Advisor and Google maps for places to eat and things to do. Go off the beaten path! Hope to return to Ryan’s Ocean view!

Wonderful week in Long Island

Returned from 9 day stay at Ryan's Ocean View. Fabulous weather, beautiful home on the water with spectacular views of the Atlantic on one side and gorgeous sunsets on the other. The house was more than we anticipated! The photos do not do it justice! Beautifully decorated, excellent location on the island. Close to activities and grocery/liquor stores. Enjoyed happy hours at the Flying Fish Marina, diving the Blue Hole. Spent a day in the northern part of the island, diving at Stella Maris, and visited the resort at Santa Maria (beautiful beach). Both worth the hour drive north. The Bahamians are very friendly and Long Island is very safe. It is more low key than its neighbors, Abaca, Exuma or Eleuthera. Wonderful place to relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the island! Excellent beaches on the island, particularly Lochibar with its own blue hole. Unspoiled and empty.

Beautiful House and Beaches - The Perfect Spot

We had a really great week on Long Island staying at Ryan's Ocean View. It began with a warm welcome from Bill (the owner) and Ingrid (the caretaker). They both showed us around the house and gave us some recommendations about where to go shopping and to eat. Thank you both. The house is spacious and clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Since the house is situated on a hill and the deck wraps all the way around, it allows for fantastic views from both the front and back of the house. My husband and I loved just sitting on the back porch every afternoon with a cocktail and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean in our view. So relaxing!! Having the hot tub was also a plus for relaxing. We also loved the island. It is very remote with the most beautiful beach on the island in Gordon. We also appreciated the friendliness of the Long Islanders we would meet ever where we went. Make sure to stop by at Earnest's unforgettable bar called "Pit Bulls - The first and last drop" and Max's Conch Bar for a really good conch salad. We couldn't have picked a nicer place to stay and can’t wait to come again!

True Paradise !

We came to Ryan's ocean view with our 7 yr old daughter . As we arrived in front of house, we were stunned by the beauty of the home, the spectacular ocean view and ocean breeze. It is way more beautiful than the pictures on the website. Upon entering the home , our first impression was the interior design . So tastefull ! The bedding was total luxury and comfortable. We had everything we needed and more . Even board games for our little one, so many books to read too. A car rental is a must. We went around the island and discovered our 2 favorite beaches: Gordon's 30 min south of the house, and Cape Santa Maria, 1 1/2 hour drive up North , but so worthed than we went twice during our stay. Ingrid...you are the best ! Thankyou for always being there for our tiniest little needs ! Thankyou Ryan, Patrice for your kindness and making our stay a great one ! We recommend Ryan's Ocean View to everyone that is looking for a piece of paradise, some quiet time with the beauty of this beautiful island. Nadya

Peaceful island home

We spent 2 weeks at the house. We read all the reviews about the house and the island. Both the house and island were what we were expecting. The house is on a small rise about 1 minutes walk to a pretty beach that is good for walking or playing but is to rough for swimming. The closet next house is on the lot next door but up at the beach, there are no houses on the other direction, so you have good privacy. The house was clean, had plenty of good quality sheets, pillows and towels. We loved the island. It is very remote. There aren't any franchise stores. Only about half grocery stores/liquor stores/restaurants take credit cards. The "grocery stores" are more like a well stocked convenience stores at home. We had Marcel, who owns the bar/take-with two cities south from the house, cook super for us each night and that was awesome, much easier than trying to prepare our own dinner. Every day we had beaches to our self except when we to Cape Santa Maria which is awesome.

Time to relax

At first I thought it was a little strange. This rental has no clocks in it. No wall clock. Not even an alarm clock beside the bed. Even the clock on the microwave was set to 0:00. I wondered -- don't these people care what time it is? Well, I'm a little slow...it took me about a day and a half to figure it out. In this gorgeous house in this amazing place...whenever you are wondering what time it is the answer is: it's time to relax. :-) It was a great reminder to just let go of the hustle and bustle and truly savor every precious moment. The most beautiful place we have ever rented. Everything was perfect. Bill and Ingrid were incredibly attentive to every question we had. I could go on and on and reiterate what has already been said in other reviews. Instead I will just say if you are looking for a comfortable, beautiful place to truly relax -- this is it.

"A Slice of Paradise"

We called at the last minute, just a few days before finally making up our minds to take a few days to get away. My husband and I were working in separate states for a few months and wanted an escape. Once in Long Island and at the home, the tune was set.......Pure Moods on the stereo, scented candles and the sound off the ocean was just what we needed. We mixed a few drinks, kicked back in the jacuzzi and relaxed for a few hours all before fully unpacking. The house is exactly as seen in the photos... Beautiful furniture and amenities. Biographies of various US presidents, magazines and games. Music DVDs, iPods, internet service and a cell phone were all available for our use, the house is only a few steps from the beach which was ours for the entire stay... We jogged, sunbath and did absolutely nothing for days...then went out to explored the island. We ate at a few great places including Island Breeze (good seafood) also at Rowdy Boys Bar & Grill which was great, we loved the decor and well groomed grounds and friendly owners. Did I mention the goreous beaches at Gordon's and Gallaway. Apart from our gracious host Ingrid and the delightful accommodations ... it gave us time to hear ourselves think and to reconnect - which is why we will be back to Long Island & to Ryans View before the end of this year.... it's out new private place!

Bathed in Peace

December 27 through January 3rd, 2011 Good and bad ebb and flow like the tide. In this life, it’s rare beauty and tranquility, injustice and hurt. When tears overwhelm, God’s hand places us in His arms for a moment to allow us to breathe; His angels to comfort and share His heart. Perfection describes this Home Away. We walked alone on miles of beach, shared nature’s aquarium then sought words to describe the colors. We found perfect sea shells and we left them for you. We pondered historic travelers, and bathed in luxury, all without leaving the property. No detail for our comfort was omitted. Then the stars performed a nightly extravaganza. Bill, Patrice, and Ingrid and Justine somehow knew that they could make a difference. The pictures, even with a thousand words are inadequate to describe the visual beauty. But the home has more. It has a feeling that can’t be described. There is a family, the Long Island family, only there if you need something. Like God Himself, staying out of the way, never intrusive. And, there is the peace that surpasses all human understanding. God’s face smiled at Ryan’s Ocean view. Our tears wiped away, His sweet, sweet messengers of mercy surrounded us and welcomed us home. Please come and drink of heaven.

Third Time and Still Loving It!

My husband and I have stayed at Ryan's Oceanview twice in the past and decided to plan a trip with my sister and her two teenagers (14 & 18) to visit once again. I cannot begin to empasize how pleasant it is to work with Patrice and Bill; they are extremely accommodating to our every need. They offered and provided a Wii for the kids (they were too distracted to use it) and kept contact with us prior to and during the trip to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. Ingrid greeted us at the airport and was kind enough to shop for provisions for us since it was Sunday and the markets were closed. The fridge was stocked with everything we had asked for. Ingrid also checked in on us and procurred 3 lobster tails for us to enjoy as well. Ryan's Oceanview is one of the most beautiful and well-kept rental homes we have ever stayed in; no detail has been spared and the home comes with every ammenity you could need while being away from home. We tend to cook our dinners at home rather than go out every night and the kitchen is very well-stocked with everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfortable and the AC blows cool when you need it. We enjoyed dinner at Rowdy Boys and the small waterfront restaurant at Flying Fish Marina (very inexpensive and good food). We, of course, had to make a trek to Max's Conch Bar for the delicious conch salad. Everything we've ever tried on their menu is very good! We soaked up some sun at the beaches at Galloway, Lowe's Beach and Lochabar. We even swam with 2 eagle rays at Lochabar and collected so many sand dollars I've lost count! The color of the water at these beaches is indescribable and committed to my memory to visit mentally on cloudy days. My sister, who is often hard to please, raved about the home and said she'd love to come back again. My husband and I will definitely be back again in the (hopefully near) future! Thank you Patrice, Bill, Ryan and Ingrid for another wonderful vacation!

Unbelievable Vacation!

To say my husband and I had the most relaxing vacation ever while staying at Ryan's View is an understatement. We arrived early on a Thursday morning from Nassau and Ingrid Knowles met us at the airport to drive us to our car rental and to Ryan's View. She provided us with a wealth of knowledge regarding the island, it's beaches, markets, attractions, etc. We rented a vehicle from Winter Haven for $85/day and it was a 4x4 vehicle which was very helpful at some of the beaches we visited. Upon arrival at Ryan's View, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary nice bottle of wine and a jar of nuts. The home looks exactly as it does on Homeaway.com. The upstairs master bedroom is huge! The master bath had a ton of extra towels and I was pleasantly surprised by their size and softness. The bathroom contained a large variety of high end shampoos, conditoners and body lotions. A very nice touch! The house is extremely accommodating and has all of the necessary appliances and ammenities that are needed while on vacation. The kitchen was full of everything we needed to cook at home; lots of spices, a big BBQ grill, large fridge and a George Foreman grill in case it's too windy to grill outside. We enjoyed a soak in the hot tub EVERY DAY after returning from the beach. I thought it would be too hot but it was just what we needed after a long day in the sun. The beaches of Long Island are unreal! Our favorites were the pools at Desert Rose, Lochabar and Gordon's. We had 10 days of fabulous sunny weather and were able to enjoy the Atlantic side beaches every day. Patrice, the home owner, was extremely helpful throughout the process of planning our trip. Making the reservation was simple and she was very responsive to our suggestions after the trip. We enjoyed meals at Rowdy Boy's (excellent conch chowder and lobster bisque) and Atlantic Hideaway (amazing cracked conch and very inexpensive). Max's Conch Bar in Deadman's Cay has the most delicious conch salad; I highly recommend it and will visit there for more dishes next time. We spent a total of 9 days at Ryan's View and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation we have taken in many years of visiting several other Bahamian Islands like Eleuthera, the Abacos and Cat Island. While each island is different, Long Island has easily become our favorite. We look forward to a return visit in Nov. 2011 to look for our own property to purchase on which to build a home as beautiful as Ryan's View!

Peace and bliss on the Atlantic side

Ryan´s Ocean view is the home of Bill and Patrice Carroll. Ryan is their son. They are exemplary homeowners who have a lovely, well built house with european-style, comfortable furniture. They go to great lengths to insure that You are comfortable with Your rental before, during and after Your stay. The caretaker, Ingrid, is a wonderful cook! The house is VERY far away from everything, but there are 4 houses nearby. One right by the beach is permanently inhabited by the Nunez family. Bob and Janice are the most pleasant neighbours You could possibly have. We suffered a short power outage one night and slept blissfully through it, but Bob immediately went up to the house to offer a flashlight, at 10PM, returning in the morning since we were sleeping and he wanted to make sure we weren´t worried by his visit! That is true American Good neighborhoodliness! The house as such is furnished as a comfortable home, not as a rental. I live in a Manor, and I wouldn´t mind any of their furniture in my own home! Everything is there that You could possibly need, except lounge chairs for the garden. I am sure Patrice is in the process of buying them just now! The wind through the celestories is perfectly adequate, but there is a very good A/C if anyone needs it. The beach is 100 m down which actually is good because of the roar of the waves is lessened. The beach is gorgeous, and empty for miles. The waves are heavy in places, and there is a tow, but there are also comparatively calm waters which are gorgeous for swimming. The Atlantic wind keeps You from being too hot. Never leave an open door unstoppered! Unfortunately when we were there the wind was heavy enough to make barbecues difficult. I am sure Patrice buys a portable Weber grill this very moment. Apart from those two things which were very minor we had one of the best vacations of our lives, for a surprisingly affordable price. If the week after us hadn´t been booked we would have stayed for two weeks. At least. The South End of the Island is so calm and serene, and apart from Cape Santa Maria at the top, there are NO better beaches to the north of Miley. Miley beach as such is the best on the Atlantic side, and on the Caribbean side You are a few minutes from Galloway,Roses and Gordons. When You wish for calm blue water You go there. But You stay on the Atlantic side for the fresh air, the beautiful waves and the excitement of a moving ocean, the lovely house, the lovelier owner and the loveliest neighbours

We had an excellent time at Ryan's View.Bill welcomed us like old friends when we arrived.The property was clean and stocked with everything you need to enjoy your stay.The views from the deck and hot tub are amazing ,nice ocean breezes and star covered sky.Several of the islands nicest beaches are south of Clarence Town, which makes the location perfect.The Long Islanders are very welcoming locals, making the island very clean and safe for visiting travelers.Can't wait to go back.
