Not a four star rating. Actually a three star.
On a normal rating system I would give a three star rating, but this site has three stars as “major issues” and to me that falls into the two star range. I feel that three stars is more of a middle of the pack rating and not a major issue rating. The place is decent. Some things for you to be aware of if you consider staying here. The floors are extremely squeaky. It is literally impossible to walk without every footstep you take being heard. That is only an issue at night while everyone is sleeping or if you are an early riser and others are sleeping in. Trying to be quiet is impossible. The kitchen and dinning room floors are fine though. The front screen door slams shut quickly. So, watch out for that as you come in and out. Check the water heater temperature. It was set to one level below the highest temperature option. I have no clue why anyone would have it set that high. Turning on the shower for the first time was not pleasant because how hot the water was. I had to lower the water heater to an appropriate level to not burn our skin. The beds were not very comfortable. I don’t expect super expensive mattresses in a rental home, but I do hope for something better that what was there. I have stay in other homes that had better mattresses. The next few things are completely out of the owner’s control and are not a review of the house, but the area. Be aware that the roads in this area are terrible. Especially the roads that are one lane each direction. I am writing this in June 2025 so years from now the roads might be better. Henry street was turned into a one way street for road work that I never saw anyone working on during my time there. People will drive on the wrong side of the road because they are too lazy to take the detour route. Many times driving to the house I had to stop and let a car turn to get out of my way because they were driving head on toward me. If that street is still a one way you will want to avoid taking McCracken Road to Henry Street. If you are on I-480 take the Broadway Ave exit and not the Granger exit. The neighbors to the left as you face the house were very loud at night on two different occasions. We were woken up on both of those nights. I think those are the residents of the house and not another rental property. I hope this information is beneficial to someone.
