The Read House Hotel

"We love visiting The Read House. The staff is always wonderful. The rooms are lovely. We enjoyed snacking at the bar this time. If I had anything negative to say it would be that our room needed new mattresses. Normally the mattresses are heavenly. This time, you could tell they were a little softer."

"After driving 12 hours from NJ to Chattanooga due to my girlfriend's passing. I needed a place to stay for a night before I saw her parents & dealt with grief, etc. This place was good for giving me some peace, & the room's back door helped me easily bring in my bags & suitcases from my car in the parking lot, without lugging it all from the lobby. The bed was comfy, the tv & couch helped me relax as well. However I was so tired, that I overslept & with check out being 11am, I barely had 1 hour to get ready to leave. I tried extending my check out to 12 noon, but the best they could do was 11:15 am, which in my situation, didn't ease any of my stress. The check out time is the only reason I am rating this "good" & not "excellent"."

"Free location was great. Just a short few minutes frim a charging station for my Tesla. Although everything was fine, I will actually it more a motel that a hotel but I had a good night sleep to continue with my journey to the northeast of the country."

"They do have a breakfast bar which is somewhat decent, the hot food mainly consisted of biscuits, smoked sausage, eggs, and some potato’s it stayed the same the entire 3 days, the doors get stuck when you walk in so you have to push them open, our room definitely needed some work and was pretty dirty, room service never brought our trash out once so it was over flowing by day 3, the room also had trash on the floor when we arrived, the couch in our room looked really dingy and could really use a cleaning, they did replace our towels though, but they never cleaned the room once. The pool was shut down because of to many people in the pool so we were only able to go once, the guy on our checkin day wasn’t very friendly, but I will say the other younger guys working at the front were very sweet, friendly, and helpful! I’d give them a 2 out of 5 because of the guys working the desk, I honestly don’t think I will stay at à la Quinta Inn again, the rooms look nothing like the photos, the lobby is pretty clean but the toilet in the lobby was out of order and full of poop the entire 3 days and the roof in the lobby was leaking during the rain, the elevator sounds like it was ganna break and there is only 1, they could defiantly use some maintenance and repairs! For over $100 a night i feel like motel 8 would’ve been the same experience for a better price."

"It was okay overall, but definitely not great. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable, and some of them appeared dirty, with yellow and even blood stains. The room also had a noticeable smell, almost like a damp or unchanged air filter. The hallway carpets looked like they had not been cleaned in years, which made the hotel feel poorly maintained. On the positive side, the pool was clean, and I appreciated that. The area itself seemed relatively safe, but there were quite a few homeless individuals nearby. If you are planning to walk to the surrounding restaurants, that is something you may want to keep in mind."

"The staff members are truly friendly and welcoming. It appears they're trying to update the rooms, which is great. The wifi was speedy, which can matter to some people. It's a reasonable place for the price. The reason I won't return is a cockroach looking bug crawled across the floor of my room in the first half hour of being there. It's probably an exception. But that's an easy Not Again for us."
