About this property

Numie - Cocoon White Gum

  • Welcome to Numie - White Gum Cocoon.

A Unique Stay, Surrounded by Nature
Set among private bushland on the Freycinet Peninsula, Numie’s cocoons offer a stay that feels completely immersed in nature while still delivering comfort in all the right places. Located just 10 minutes from Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park, this adults-only retreat is designed for those wanting to slow down, switch off and experience the landscape in a more intimate way.

    Thoughtfully Designed for Comfort
Each cocoon features Japandi-inspired interiors, blending clean Nordic design with warm Japanese minimalism. Natural materials, organic textures and low-toxicity finishes create a calm and restful space. Inside, you’ll find cloud-like bedding with European linen, soft pillows and a comfortable mattress, along with an automatic pellet wood burner that keeps the space warm and cosy with the press of a button.

    Private Outdoor Living
Step outside to your private deck, where a hot tub with natural low-chlorine filtration invites you to soak while taking in views of the Hazards and across Pelican Bay. A separate dining pod just steps away, fully equipped with a BBQ, gas stove, mini fridge, and everything you need for an off-grid glamping escape. An outdoor fire pit adds the perfect touch for evening gatherings, making it easy to enjoy slow breakfasts, long lunches, or relaxed dinners surrounded by bushland and coastal air.

    Stargazing & Dark Sky Location
Numie is located in a true dark sky area, making it an incredible place for stargazing. On clear nights, the sky is filled with stars, and if you’re lucky, you may even see the aurora.

    Privacy & Seclusion
There are only two cocoons and one glamping tent on the property, each with its own ensuite bathroom, private dining pod and hot tub. The cocoons are spaced approximately 20 metres apart and screened by natural bushland to ensure privacy, seclusion and uninterrupted views. So no need to share any amenities with other guests.

    The Perfect Base to Explore
While the property feels secluded, you’re only a short drive to Coles Bay for cafés, supplies and tours, and just minutes from the walking trails, beaches and lookouts of Freycinet National Park. Spend your days exploring, then return to the fire, the hot tub and the quiet of the bush.

Please note that when booking and paying by card, a small fee will appear on your statement as a “ReslyPay” charge. This fee is set by the booking platform and is not controlled by us. Thank you for your understanding.

    Considerate Decisions:
At Numie, slowing down and reconnecting with nature is at the heart of your stay. For this reason, we’ve intentionally chosen not to provide a television or microwave, encouraging guests to fully embrace the Tasmanian wilderness, support the surrounding ecosystem, and enjoy a truly rejuvenating escape. During your stay, please also be mindful of your fellow Numie neighbours and the guests in the main house.

    Showers & Water
Each cocoon has its own water tank, beautiful rainwater collected onsite and used for showering, drinking and washing up. Please be mindful of your water usage, especially showering so you don't run out of water.

    Power
Your cocoon is run on a small solar system that runs the lights, fridge and charging points. We also provide both lighting and USBc cables for charging phones, cameras and laptops.

    What's included
Numie has everything you need out at the cocoons. Hot water showers and towels, super comfy mattress with soft linen and blankets. Private bbq with cooking utensils, olive oil, salt & pepper, teas, coffee, stove top kettle. We also have got you covered with super long forks for roasting up marshmallows, also included. Each cocoon has a decent size fridge so you're able to keep your tucker fresh.

    Warmth / Cool
Each cocoon features a simple-to-use pellet heater, delivering instant warmth and a cozy ambience, making your stay snug and inviting.

    Security
Numie is located on a private reserve and is secluded but like always we suggest not leaving anything valuable in your cocoon while out. And make sure you secure your cocoon on departure.

    Fires
Camping wouldn’t be the same without a fire. Each cocoon has a designated fire pit area and a solo stove complete with a spark arrester for your safety. This being said, if you intend on having a fire just remember you are 100% responsible for it until it's completely out. On super windy days and total fire ban days, you will not be allowed to start a fire.

    Fire Wood
Enough dry firewood is provided for your stay but additional wood can be purchased if required. Please do not take wood from the bush, excess smoke and habitat loss could result.

    Wildlife
Staying at numie means sharing the space with a number of animals including, Wombats, Sugar Gliders, Possums & Wallabies. Dusk and dawn is the best time to meet and greet these amazing creatures and did we mention amazing sunsets and sunrises. Just remember not to feed the animals they need their foraging skills to survive. On the flip side snakes and ants as well as other creepy crawlies also live here so keep to the paths and be vigilant; snakes will hear you coming and move on. Jack jumpers are large ants that give a nasty sting so again stick to the paths so you can see where you are walking.

Please note that when booking and paying by card, a small fee will appear on your statement as a “ReslyPay” charge. This fee is set by the booking platform and is not controlled by us. Thank you for your understanding.
