We did not have a great time in Dorint an der Messe Köln. First, I did not think that we were assigned to our booked room type. We have booked the superior room, however, the hotel gave us a room that was identical to a comfort room as shown on their website. The staff insisted that a superior room was given to us, but the size of the given room was clearly the same as the comfort room type. In addition, poor hygiene of the hotel restaurant was noticed. We had breakfast in the hotel for four days, in two of the four days, we saw a mouse crossing in the middle of the restaurant. Other customers and even the staff also noticed that. We were truly concerned about the hygiene for the catering area. I would appreciate if there comes any follow-up action for these problems. Thank you.

Have stayed here multiple times on business trips but think this has been my last unfortunately. Positives: Good Location for the Messe/trade show hall Wi-fi was ok Staff seemed polite Negatives: Rooms are really scratched and marked and not cleaned properly, looking really run down. Small space in the room, bland and boring, no decor. Terrible soundproofing, can hear everything. No kettle or coffee machine in the room. I asked reception if I could take a coffee from the breakfast room even though I hadn't booked breakfast, she said 'sure' implying it would be free but I was charged when leaving. Area seemed a bit unsafe, lots of unsavoury looking guys hanging around outside.

I booked for 2 nights in the middle of November 2021. The photo in the booking looks great - the superior room. However, when I arrived at the hotel, the room type I was given looks exactly like the essential room (which is cheaper). The hotel staff was nice enough to check. And checked they did, but told me that the room I was given is indeed the superior room. They only relented and brought me to the correct room type when I showed them photos as marketed on the Expedia page. That was then I was told that there is only one room in the entire hotel that looks like the photo marketed (room 94 on level 1). Everything was well until midnight when I realise that my heating system was not working. That was when I was informed that the hotel does not have heating at night, heating system would only restart the next day. I could not keep warm despite doubling up on the blankets. It was winter when I was at the hotel and I don't think it is appropriate hospitality to make the guests suffer in the cold at night in the middle of winter. And because I was told I could not check out that night, I requested to check out immediately the next morning and get a refund on my remaining night. However I was then told that I am not able to check out after 1 insufferable night and I would not get a refund on the remaining night I did not spend in the hotel For travellers who are budget conscious, the nearest train station is a good 20 mins away and the pathway is badly lit and not safe

Trendy and welcoming Hotel in Cologne
The hotel was warm, welcoming, friendly, trendy and clean. My room had a nicely sized "office" with desk and chair and the bed was large (not two mattresses together). Room temperature was great and the mini bar was generously stocked. I will definitely stay again!

The rooms are quiet and fairly spacious. The shower was awesome! Unfortunately the biggest disappointment was the front staff. We asked a couple of basic questions....where is there food by us and where is a laundromat. They had no answer for either. We ventured out and found a couple of places to eat not far from us. Then we Googled the closest laundromat and found one right away. These are basic questions a front staff should be able to answer.

I was robbed by the staff. "They" Went through my luggage and stoled my GOPRO 7 BLACK, 3 Batteries, dual Charger, Car mount for the GOPRO, 2 MICRO 256GB Cards and a $1000.00 in cash. Hotel's reply was... It's not our problem, should have taken your luggage with you. Really? when I am in a room for 6 days I should pack up my clothing and do what with it while I am gone EACH DAY?

For us it was on the wrong side of the river in not the best area of town - a bit run down area under renewal. Bed was not to our taste and pillows were poor leading to a bad nights sleep. Overall the hotel was defitbwlt acceptable but not enough to bring us back

good stay in 'junior suite'
Stayed 17/08 in a 'junior suite with terrace', at a cost of £173 for the night. The decor was very nice and a bit different than standard boring hotel rooms, but a little bit scratched/marked in some places. The room was a bit more spacious than average but not huge. Nice terrace balconies that you could see quite a distance, would have made more use of them if it was warmer outside! Wifi was good, parking available outside on the street. Free coffee available at reception in the morning. Very convenient for access to the koelnmesse convention centre, 5 minute walk. My only negatives were that there is no kettle or coffee machine in the room itself which is annoying, and also that the shower doesn't drain properly and has left a big stain on the floor from all the previous showers over time. I do recommend this hotel and will stay again, but the price I paid was a bit expensive for the room I received - possibly because I only booked a week before staying.

good quality hotel for a tourist visit
We were a little concerned about the location when we arrived as it was in a housing estate but our stay was good. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was about 20 minute walk from the Rhine park and a further 15 minutes to the Cathedral so a good base for sightseeing.

Weekend break
Stayed here for a couple of nights. Lovely hotel and staff were friendly. Shame there was a picture of a naked woman in the room. This is something that I feel strongly about. I wouldn't stay there again because of this. It's called an arts hotel, but a picture of a naked women is not art it's more pornography.

Misleading photographs of rooms.
When reserving this hotel I decided to upgrade to a Deluxe Double Room paying extra to do so. After checking in we were directed to another building outside which surprised me as no mention had previously been made of this. Our room was cold and uninviting with bare concrete floor and cold hard white laminate surfaces. We tried to turn up the heat on the thermostat but it seemed to make no difference. I went to the reception to check if we had been given the correct room and was informed that we had in fact been upgraded to a superior room. I pointed out that the room was not the same as the photographs on our confirmation nor was it the same as the online photographs when I made the reservation. The confirmation showed a room with some soft furnishings (a leather chair, leather covered exercise pommel and a wood appearance floor), the receptionist assured me that our room was better and was in fact 4 star. We travel often and know what to expect from a four star hotel and what we were given was not what we were expecting.

Fine Hotel for Exhibition Centre
We used it for Gamescon 2018. Just down the road. Parking is excellent and hotel were happy to let us park for the day after checkout. Little bit out of town but you can jump on the train for a 2-3 stops for the centre

Hotel is very clean. Room very spacious. Only drawback is that neighborhood is surrounded by what appears to be government housing. Loud and nosy people hanging outside till pretty late at night.

Good hotel practical to get to Köln
Very artsy lobby and modern room, with many amenities. Friendly staff especially at the restaurant in the evening. However the hotel is located next to works and workers start making noise at 7.30am.... not ideal for vacation...

Lovely Hotel with good transport connections
Exceeded expectations with lovely spacious standard room. Much easier to get to centre of Cologne than anticipated. Great hotel that’s just a bit outside of the centre.

Staff kept opening the door, even when I was in the room. There was no “ do not disturb” sign to hang on door. It was very noisy! Hotel was just ok, but with all the other problems, it’s not worth it. There are much better more professional hotels!

The hotel was great, clean and cosy and the staff were very friendly. Enjoyed the little welcoming gift on my pillow and had a good couple of nights sleep there. Short walk to tram stop (about 5 minutes) and in a quiet location.

Really lovely hotel. Very modern and extremely clean. Bathroom was very nice and wonderful shower that was always hot. However, for me, the bed was way too hard and felt like I was sleeping on concrete - which has left me with a bad, painful back. Also, the hotel is far out the centre and you need to get the tram to be able to get anywhere. Nothing in immediate vicinity of the hotel - very residential. However this did mean it was nice and quiet!

Nicely decorated, quiet location
Lovely hotel, nicely decorated. In a residential area however was close to a tram stop. It was also close to a Lidl so easy to buy supplies if necessary. Room was spacious. No tea/coffee making facilities in rooms however free coffee is available in the reception in the morning. Our toilet was blocked on the first day, which we reported and we assume it was resolved whilst we were out as it was fine the next day. Made another minor complaint which was not fully dealt with as I was told the manager was not there to authorise anything, so I am yet to email them. Staff printed our return boarding passes for us which was most helpful.

Ok hotel, building site,REALLY rude reception
Nothing more to say. Average + vv rude. Not breakfast team or housekeeping they were terrific. Make receptionist actually yelling at me that was shower was good enough when I asked for bath and offered to pay. I was shocked. Never in Germany. Customer service is usually top. Hotel is ok to fine but in a high regeneration area for immigrants and housed locals. All ok but hotel and visitors stick out. Only stay here if you know the area
