"Stayed mainly to break up our journey from the Portuguese coast to the Mediterranean coast, but we were very pleased we stayed in the old town and at this hotel. They were both excellent. Beautifully appointed hotel, spacious bedroom and bathroom with lots of character. Friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast in a beautiful dining room, unfortunately the restaurant was temporarily closed but we were able to find one within walking distance."

The staff at the restaurant were lovely too and the food was excellent and worth the little extra we paid. It's not the cheapest Portuguese restaurant but quite a surprising find in such a small village. We can recommend the steak and the bacalhau. We were very happy with our stay and will return there on our homeward journey. Thank you for the kindness and the welcome we received. "

"I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, it wasn’t the most comfortable experience. The room itself was just okay—basic but functional. However, it didn’t feel very clean. There was an awful smell in the room that never went away. There were visible marks on the walls, a stale smell, and the bathroom could definitely use a more thorough scrubbing. What really put me off, though, was the general atmosphere. Some of the other guests seemed… off. A few were lingering in the hallways at odd hours, and there were loud conversations late at night right outside my room. I didn’t feel unsafe, exactly, but I didn’t feel totally relaxed either. The staff was polite but not particularly attentive. I wouldn’t say this is the worst place I’ve ever stayed, but I probably wouldn’t return unless there were major improvements in both cleanliness and guest screening."
