  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

The staff were helpful, courteous and professional. The hotel was nice and clean. The room was exactly as expected, no surprises, which I prefer. I will stay here again. Access to the highway was very easy to navigate for an out of towner.

Conveniently located near the highway, this hotel was a great choice for our stay. The rooms were fantastic, having been recently renovated. They were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Each room has full kitchen which was nice.

Stayed one night. The rooms are nicely updated and our room was clean. This is an extended stay hotel so there was a lot of construction workers and lots of construction vehicles. The lobby was nothing to write home about and I would not likely going jogging in this area. It served our purposes and the price was right.

New contemporary amenities in room spare but attractive. Perfect for long term stay or temporary relocation. Dishwasher could be smaller, oven preferred over a microwave. Otherwise, overall ideal.

Property under construction which was ok. Rooms were nicely refurbished but door plates were poorly installed. Had to move rooms because the first didn't lock. No coffee in the room and staff couldn't find any. Shower never got warm. Kitchenette was nice. Bed comfortable.
