  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

Lots of clean space, modern kitchen, good bathroom, good bedrooms, for an economical price. Responsive host. Minimal check out requirements. I will add the following to my packing list if I stay again: towels, toiletries, air fresheners (older building). Dear host: Thank you for letting me rent your apartment.

Close to everything

We all enjoyed it. We were staying in Columbus as we went to GYC at the greater Columbus convention center. It was within 7 minutes and we could cook and clean etc. place was clean. No major complaints with the room. If I come to Columbus again would definitely consider staying here again.

Great little apartment

We had a great stay at this location. In town for 10 days to show at the Quarter Horse Congress. Apartment was newly renovated with all the amenities and convenient to the State fairgrounds. Comfortable beds. Builing was quiet. Parking was hut or miss but we always fiund a spot. Will definitely return to this property when we have a need.

OSU Orientation

Traveled here from Philadelphia for my step daughters OSU orientation. After 7.5 hours in the car, this place was just what we needed. Clean, cozy, comfy....just perfect! Our stay was accompanied with a heat wave, but the AC was top notch. So close to the campus and many other great locations. We will definitely be back to utilize this place to visit our new OSU buckeye!!

Slumming

What should have been a nice stay was ruined by a company that does not have maintain their locations. Let’s start w basic maintenance. The cheap blinds had broken and missing pieces. A simple replacement would allow the guests the privacy they deserve. People on the street can see in through the broken blinds. Note, they fail to tell you this unit is in the basement of an absolutely disgusting building. The hallways are vile. Zero cleanliness, zero maintenance. A little paint and a mop goes a long way. Speaking of cleaning, our unit was not cleaned. The floor was sticky and flilthy. The counters had not even been wiped to remove the food from the previous occupants. There weee dishes in the dish washer. The toilet paper roll was missing. The electrical outlet is dangerously pulling from the wall. But the most disgusting part of our stay was when we called because you could not control the temperature, the apartment was roasting and wreaked of cigarette smoke. There was no way to turn down the temp. We called and maintenance came and pulled a vile air filter covered in years of dust out of the unit. And then NEVER replaced it. Do not stay here, this company does not care about cleanliness nor basic maintenance.
