"Arrived and both rooms we booked were not clean. Bathroom had toilet paper in the toilet, shower was dirty, and no towels in one of the rooms. Before bed we noticed that our beds did not have blankets on them. Called the front desk and they said someone would arrive in 30 mins, waited 2 hrs and then just went and got the blankets from our car so we could sleep as no one areived. Next morning we called and requested blankets, our request was acknowledged but no blankets delivered and our room was not cleaned.
Finally at night we went to the front desk and requested again at which point we wete given blankets.
Went to our rooms and the TV did not work. Turns out no ones TV worked...
Breakfast states it is a hot buffet. It is not, it is grab 2 items out of a cooler and microwave. Complete false advertisement.
Our family who also stayed experienced a broken toilet, locked out of their room due to the key cards not working and no towels as it was stated they ran out.
The staff tried to help the best they could but with all the problems we had, I can only imagine they were busy with other guest complaints/concerns as well.
I have stayed in several red lions and never been so disappointed! The owner needs to invest in his property and get more staff so they can do their jobs properly."
"We opted to spend a little more to get a room with a "kitchenette". It had a working stove and a full fridge and coffee maker. It did not have any pots or pans to use on the stove. It was nice that it had a kitchen table and a separate bedroom. It was right next to the maintenance/laundry room. An open bin of trash was right outside the door and our place had a lot of flies. The floors weren't clean, especially under the bed. While I would likely stay at this property again (it's cheap!), I would not spend the extra money on a room like this."
"We have stayed at the Plainview Motel before and used to love it, but after this experience, we will never return.
The path to the beach was lined with trash and appeared to be occupied by homeless individuals. While my husband and son were down there, they were confronted by two large off-leash dogs that were aggressive—growling and attempting to attack our son and our small dog. The owner did nothing and dismissed it as “they’re friendly,” which was clearly not true.
Later that same day, I was chased by another set of off-leash dogs belonging to a long-term tenant. The owner was rude, hostile, and harassed us instead of taking responsibility. He even tried to escalate the situation and falsely claimed he was calling the police.
We no longer felt safe and left early, even though we had two nights remaining.
Getting a refund was just as frustrating. The manager was unhelpful, argumentative, and only refunded one night after a long back-and-forth with the third-party booking company.
Unsafe environment, aggressive dogs, rude long-term tenants, and poor management. I would not recommend staying here."
