The Inn at Croftville Road Cottages #5. On the Shore of Lake Superior.

Located only 40 feet from Lake Superior s beach is the Inn at Croftville Road Cottages. This unique and newly crafted building with tall multiple gabled peaks houses 5 vacation suites all with private exterior entrances. The Inn at Croftville Road Cottages #5 provides the gentle sound of breaking waves hitting the shore and spectacular views of Superior. It is designed with romance in mind. This 2-story, 1-bedroom vacation suite has a main level living room and well-equipped full-size kitchen and an upstairs bedroom and bathroom. One enters this suite from a covered porch on the Grand Portage side of the inn. The living room features a romantic wood fireplace with a large raised hearth and firewood, a smart TV and DVD player mounted above the mantle, a dinette set in a bay window looking out to Superior, a radio/CD player, and a futon. The upstairs bedroom has a plush queen bed, a decorative gas stove, and a spa tub for 2 in the bay window looking out to Superior. The luxurious bathroom has access from the stairs landing without entering the bedroom. This four-season inn suite is open all year and has wireless internet access. An artesian well provides excellent water for drinking. The Inn at Croftville Road Cottages #5 sleeps up to 4 people (2 on the futon) with all linens provided.

Rates and Policies:
• Longer stays are better for us as hosts. Many hosts simply require 3 night minimum stays. However, we choose to accept 1 or 2 night short stays but charge more for short stays.
• There is a 20% discount for 7 or more night stays. This discounted rate is included in your original quote when you request a 7 or more night stay.
• We have a 2 night minimum stay on weekends and a 3 night minimum stay on holidays and special events.
• We have no cleaning fee. Our cleaning costs are figured into our nightly rates. We do charge for extra guests.
• We are required to collect 12.375% in state and local sales taxes. Vrbo collects and pays 8.375% of that total. The remaining 4% Vrbo collects for us and we pay to the county. All of these show up as lodging taxes on your quote/bill.
• As hosts, we pay a 5% commission to Vrbo. This has been included in our pricing and will not show up on your quote/bill.

Inn Suite #5 is one of 8 vacation rentals at Croftville Road Cottages. There are 3 cottages plus the inn with 5 vacation suites, an office, and owners quarters. Croftville Road Cottages is owned and operated by Teresa and Mike Chmelik who live on-site. The inviting and romantic suites and cottages are impeccably clean and meticulously maintained. Croftville Road Cottages offers an experience reminiscent of days past when small mom and pop resorts were found all along the North Shore. However, the luxurious inn suites and cozy cottages are among the finest vacation rentals along Lake Superior. Croftville Road Cottages is conveniently located just 3 miles from downtown Grand Marais on the lakeside of scenic Croftville Road known by locals as the "walking road".

Fabulous Place

This is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in several decades of travel. The accommodations are very nicely done and of course the 'big lake' is the star of the show. This is a great place!

Pleasant summer getaway

My partner and I had a pleasant summer getaway over our first anniversary here. We enjoyed the many features including the lakeside views, giant whirlpool tub, fireplace and well appointed kitchen. The management were friendly and helpful.

Beautiful place on North Shore

Wish we could have stayed longer! The back yard overlooking the lake — gorgeous!! What a great place too disconnect and relax. I want to come back and stay longer. The owners were terrific and accommodating!

We didn’t ski, but the stay was absolutely awesome! Beautiful sunrise and could hear the waves all evening long. Went there overnight for my wifes birthday! Would definitely love to come here again. Was a wonderful time.

Wonderful inn on Lake superior!

A beautiful location with wonderful amenities. Highlights are the spa tub and wood burning fireplace. Views of the lake can't be beat!

AMAZING!!!

Super clean and homey! Awesome jacuzzi. Easily one of the coziest, sweetest, most beautiful little home for a few days. The view is amazing, make sure you watch the sunrise! :) and it’s just a short drive to Grand Marais cute little downtown.

Great location and clean

We enjoyed our stay in #5. It was very clean. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it seemed well stocked. The location is phenomenal with great views and multiple places to sit outside on property. Check in and out was super simple. The major negative for us was privacy. We enjoyed our jacuzzi tub, but the window on one side was another guest balcony. Same with the window by our bathroom. We thought visiting in the winter when the windows wouldn’t be open and/or people less likely to sit outside would be nice. The other negative was the shower head, if you adjusted the temp before getting in it would spray out the door. We would stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Our Happy Place

We fell asleep every night to the sound of Lake Superior waves (some crashing, others lapping). The short drive from Grand Marais and that walkability of Croftsville Rd. are a big plus. We did most of our own cooking in the well-appointed kitchen, including having friends for dinner one evening. The bedroom with the spa was delightful after hiking. The living/dining room has a wonderful view of the lake. Heated floors and gas (bedroom) and wood (living room) fireplaces keep it very cozy. The staircase requires some thoughtful maneuvering and we wouldn't recommend this suite for someone with disabilities or difficulty with stairs. Our hosts clearly put a lot of thought and artistic savvy into the design and are good administrators as well as very friendly. They live on-site. We signed up already for a return rental next summer.

Fantastic location. Great accommodations. Perfumed laundry detergent and fabric softener.

This would be a 5-star rave review - beautiful setting and almost new, wonderfully appointed apartment - but for their use of perfumed soaps, detergents, and fabric softener that permeated the air both indoors and outdoors. If you are sensitive to perfumes this would, very unfortunately, not be the place for you.

Very nice indeed. Certainly worthy of all the positive reviews here. The photos are an accurate representation. Very clean. A recommendation if you stay here, open up all the windows and enjoy the sound therapy that the waves provide, it's surprisingly effective.

Fantastic spot!

We booked this trip on a whim and were absolutely delighted with how it turned out! The lodging was far better than we anticipated. The space was cozy, yet had enough room for whatever we needed. We loved the view, fireplace, and hot tub. The owners were beyond gracious and extremely helpful to us. We will absolutely return and have recommended the Inn at Croftville Road Cottages to our friends and family already. THANKS for a wonderful weekend!
