"Our stay at the New Inn 1730 was only overnight, and we arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening. This is a welcoming & friendly pub, with restaurant and accommodation. The owner did his best to accommodate our needs during our short stay, and is still finding his feet a little having only recently taken on the business. "This Hotel building has soooo much character! It was a true delight and the staff were all so friendly and upbeat! Beth from the bar/dining room was especially fun with a great sense of humor! She made our stay even more enjoyable! Shebby (sp?), Waffi (sp?)) and Nevin (sp?)were also very fun and pleasant! We will never forget the wonderful three days that we spent here and can’t recommend this place enough! "

"Very Scottish decor’ for some reason. Staff were over worked and doing multiple jobs as best as they could and as quickly as they good. Tending bar, taking orders, waiting on tables - just one person! They really struggled at breakfast with a coach party all coming down to eat at the same time and only two waitresses and one chef to handle everything. I could see how frustrated the staff and the customers were getting with the whole situation. The room was clean and tidy with good tea and coffee amenities. TV was working well. Bathroom looked recently refurbished. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I really liked their “free drink instead of housekeeping” option, which I absolutely decided to go for. Hotel is conveniently located to train station and a short walk into Kendal town centre. "
