"This is a very old and well-known hotel in the heart of Red Wing Minnesota. The staff were amazing and even went so far as they leave a nice card in our room to help us celebrate the reason we were staying there.
The room was clean and had wonderful historic decor. Vibrant, wallpapers, old, classic furniture, etc. This is not a negative, but please know that the room we stayed in did not have a refrigerator, or microwave. I wouldn’t expect that in a historical setting like this, but I wanted to point this out in case somebody plans on bringing their own food or beverages. Maybe some rooms have that option, I did not request it, and like I said, please don’t view that as a negative remark.
You can find many wonderful options for dinner and shopping either on site, or very close by.
When in the area, please make sure you take some time to visit the Mississippi river, which is close to the hotel, take a hike up the Bluffs, which are also close by, and enjoy the sounds of the trains that pass by occasionally. "
"To be honest, we just went to the Mayo Clinic and this hotel is excellent because it is right in the midst of the Clinic. So ease of access was our top priority."
"Everything was clean and we saw maintenance people actually fixing things that were broken. That seems to be missing in most hotels these days. Will definitely stay here again."
"Our stay was nice. The room was clean, the staff super friendly and helpful. There was something on the bedspread, I took it down to the front desk, she appologized and got me a different one. When I got back it was on that one as well. I took it back, we decided it had to be something that got in the wash because they'd been washed and looked the same. the last one had it as well, but we just didn't use. We didn't need it. Everything else was fine.
Nothing fancey but meets the needs and was a great price."
