Good hotel
We stayed in unit 11 and that unit has a great view of the ocean and the hotel is really close to some great beaches. The manager girl is very friendly.

I don't normally review but based on the fact that I tried to cancel this booking based on ratings, I am. Yes, it's true, totally a no frills hotel. Communication is also spotty. With that being said I have no complaints and also due to circumstance this hotel saved my experience on Culebra. It is directly across from the ferry port and central to everything that is within walking distance. The hotel manager David waived my first night, even with a no cancelation policy, without penalty when we couldn't make the last ferry. He upgraded us to a larger room and away from possible noise without us asking. He offered us recommendations, answered and even helped set up rentals, etc. In Culebra you only need a place to lay your head. You will have no desire to linger in a hotel room. So if you are on a budget and convenience, good customer service are a priorty, definitely stay here.

This place is a dump. We stayed in a 2 bed room unit. There is no on site staff everything is done by email and the phone number given to call upon checkin wasn't the number needed to get in contact with the manager. Had to find a phone number from a shop owner. Once we got the key we went and explored the beaches which were amazing and beautiful. We came back after 9 pm to finally see what our room was like. It was hot and nasty there was 2 window unit air conditions that were in the bed rooms that couldn't cool because the windows were open and broke. So they couldn't be closed. The bathroom was horrible the door was broken in half the shower didn't have hot water or warm water. The fridge had food in it and then the best of all the next day of our 2 day stay the guest came out to say hi. Cockroaches not one or two I'm talking hundreds of the nasty bugs going up the walls near the kitchen. I took my family and we went to our rental jeep and stayed the night. This place if in the United States main land would be condimed,closed and burnt. Humane shelters are cleaner and in better condition. Hotels.com should be ashamed to even offer this hotel to guest. Stay away from this place. Sleep on the beach if you have too. The island is beautiful and the beaches are the best I have seen in a lot of travel.

Great location PERIOD. Hotel staff were nice. We checked in after landing via ferry. Rooms were different from what we are used to, but was adequate for the stay. The bar downstairs had loud music, which was a concern. Ferry terminal was next door so easy to purchase departure tickets. Everything is accessible from hotel neighborhood. there are rides available to Flamenco, so car rental is optional.

Good and spacious
It was good spacious and comfortable although it needs a better mattress toaster and stove cause u can only cook one thing at a time. Nice view in front of ferry close to stores and bank.

This is a place that is great to dropping off your bags then enjoying everything that Culebra has to offer then going back to sleep in. Definitely a no-frills hotel experience. You're hear to sleep and shower, that's about it. If you go into this hotel with that mentality, you won't be disappointed.

Ugh, ick, but probably best deal on the island..
Previous reviews tell the story... it's a squewed hotel /BnB market in Culebra... it seems EVERYTHING is expensive and many with service/quality issues. Kokomo is an aging property, in decline. Small rooms with barely the basics, badly maintained... the fan didn't work, the sink was about to fall off the wall, the shower curtain didn't reach down to block water from going on the floor; you had to enter then close the door before going into the room b/c of no room, the room wasn't made up between nights; oh and then there were the two roaches, mama roach and baby roach. "Water bugs" if you prefer. But the worst part was the management just didn't seem to care. About the property, about the guests. Yes, we were supposed to shift to a lesser room the second night, and they let us stay, but it was with such lack of customer service or enthusiasm from start to finish. That said, great location right across from the ferry if you're there without a car, walking distance to all the restaurants, shuttle bus to beach at your door; the cleaning staff were cheery and helpful. ... and the ISLAND IS AMAZING! Bring ear plugs and a sense of humor, and this budget option will be 'just fine'.

Nice suite in a great location
Our group of 3 booked one of the upper level suites with a balcony and we really loved it. The living area gave us a fun place to hang out, the ocean views from the balcony were amazing, we were able to cook many of our meals in the kitchen, and we were walking distance to plenty of restaurants when we didn't want to. The reason I only gave it 4/5 is because the place could use some upkeep. The screens kept popping out of the windows, some light switches didn't work, some windows wouldn't close etc. Overall a great value which I would definitely recommend.

Bathroom is separate from the bedroom. Bathroom had strange odor of garbage/sewage/cabbage. They must have a terrible plumbing problem. Too gross to shower there:-( Bed was uncomfortable, with room only a bit larger than bed.

Worst hotel experience.
Spend a little more and stay at a better hotel while visiting Culebra! Kokomo is very basic, but not in a good way. The room was disappointing - no lamp, ceiling fan didn't work, FULL of mosquitos; the bedding was dingy. The bathroom was outdated and not clean - I wore shower shoes. The shower head sprayed water everywhere and there was a chunk of the ceiling missing. The hotel is SO noisy at night because of the sports bar on the bottom floor. The room was full of mosquitos at night because there aren't windows (just louvers over the opening).

Just across the Ferry Station, we had one of the suites, is a 2 bedrooms suite just one of them has AC the other one just have one fan. The Windows can't be closed and downstairs there's a bar so if you have kids this is not the place where you want to be, or you will have to stay awake until they close the bar at around 3 or 4 am. No amenities at all! the manager is a nice guy so in case you need something at least you will have someone to help you.

Location is very nice.
It was a Sunday night before Labor Day. AC was NOT working and it was about 100 degrees. Local bars had very loud music until 2 am, however since AC was not working, we got NO sleep that night. Windows were broken and there were bugs/roaches. The owner did refund our money, however and we moved to another Hotel and had a nice time going forward.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom suit on the 3rd floor, no elevator to being up your stuff. One ac for our room. Could not ac the living room, bathroom or second room. Windows in the living room didn't close. No shampoo or conditioner provided. Only bars of soap and towels. Mattress was uncomfortable. And worst of all was the MILLION ROACHES!!! Wouldn't stay here again!

Where to begin ? We stayed in the so called suite on the 3rd floor. (room 12) I have stayed in many low budget places and when we got there you could def tell it was going to be bad. The floor when you walk in had dirt and sand everywhere. My 5 year old walked across the floor 1 time and his feet were black! The place has a real must smell to it and the furniture smelled really bad. We decided that we would stay the night and see how it goes. We did a few things and came back when it started to get dark. Thats when it happened. 1 roach then 2 roaches .... before we knew it there were roaches everywhere, literally everywhere, on the table on the stove and counter , my wife was on the couch and one crawled down her shirt. I picked up the coffee maker and a group of about 25 roaches ran out. It was literally disgusting , we closed everything we had and stacked it on the side table to avoid bugs getting on it. We didn't see anything in the bedroom so we laid there all night awake waiting for something to crawl on us. The next day it was raining. The ceiling started to leak in several places and you could see black mold everywhere. The floor had puddles everywhere and the couches were soaking wet from the rain water. There is NO hotel staff, a guy met us at the bar gave us a key and never saw him again. Call the number and left messages no reply. We found another hotel for the next night and never got a refund from Kokomo. Look up The Lighthouse beautiful place and location

Terrible in one occasion we forgot the key inside the room, we called the manager and he was in a party. He told us that he will come the next day becouse he was is a birthday party. The window was broken and had a hole in the wall. We dont recomend this place.

The dirtiest room ever, hair and dirt on the matress, broken cabinets, ac from 60s making it very difficult to fall asleep, mosquitos and bugs everywhere. The only difference from camping was a cleaner shower. However cleaning lady did not leave any towels and was on the cell all the time when she supposed to be cleaning. Loud and obnoxious, brought her grandson to work. The only positive thing is that hotel manager kept our luggage once we checked out. You get what you pay for. Do not book shared bathroom rooms.

Rigt across from the ferry
This place is great in terms of locatiom. It is right across the street from the ferry terminal. I stayed in Suite 12, a 2 bdroom with private bathroom. It was more than needed but I dont like t share bathrooms so went this route. Still very affordable but less than comfortable. I am from NYC and can handle noise, but this was on another level. Starting at around 3am roosters start going and dont stop until 8am or so. It will wake you up, even with the air conditioner sound. The rooms were ok, between a motel and 3 star hotel. Windows dont close and there are no curtains. Particularly in the shower, w8ndows. Oveeall, i stayed her out of necessity and would again bwcause i took a 7pm ferry to Culebra (another hig i would not do again).

We enjoyed our stay at Kokomo. It is close to ferry terminal and easy to find and get around. The facility is small but clean. The staff is helpful. It is the place that you can meet other travelers.

Convenient!
The Kokomo is convenient to ferry, taxies, and nice restaurants in downtown Culebra (aka Dewey), making it a great base of operation on Culebra, especially if you don't want to spring for a golf cart or jeep rental the whole time you are there. It's a budget hotel, so if you love minibars, televisions and amenities -- probably not for you. If you mostly just want a place to lay your head at night, that has ac, a place to charge your devices, and wi-fi, in walking distance to zacos tacos and libra verde and mamacitas and the dingy doc -- it is quite fine. Breakfast and sandwiches at the Gypsy Cafe next door.
