Upon first glance the house was fine. Not much curb appeal but the furnishings appeared okay until you started to notice the details. This house was like a home remodel gone wrong. There were gaps in the wood floor, baseboards that had gaps, drawers in the kitchen that didn’t close properly, a hole in one of the kitchen cabinets, broken tiles in the dining area. There was also no soap in any of the bathrooms. Many other things as well.
We couldn’t cook despite there being a full kitchen because most of the dishes in the cabinets were dirty and there were dirty dishes still in the dishwasher when we checked in. After finding the dirty dishes we were concerned whether any of the house has been cleaned prior to our arrival.
There was a huge box in one room and several others in the master closet that looked like more improvement projects. We didn’t have use of the garage so I don’t understand why boxes needed to be stored in the house. Some of the furniture was very worn, including the carpet - which was also filthy. And we were asked not to wear shoes on the carpet - as if we would make it worse or something.
The threshold that ties the wood floor in the master bedroom to the tile in the master bathroom wasn’t secured properly. It got caught on my tights the last night and it broke, scratching and bruising my foot in the process. One of the master blinds fell down, breaking one of the clips holding it up, when we tried to open a window. I sent a message to Ebony the next morning letting her know what happened and she just asked for pictures of the damage - she didn’t ask once if I was okay.
When reserving the property I was notified that we either needed to leave a deposit or purchase an insurance policy for damage. The homeowner has filed a claim against that policy for the two items mentioned above - including the one that hurt me! It seems to me like they are trying to fix up their house by filing claims to fix the property that they fail to maintain properly.
This house was not worth the cost and it’s so far away from anything.
