About the neighborhood:
Our house is located in a quiet neighborhood in Carrollton, Texas. Walking distance from our home you’ll find Oak Hills Park featuring a sand volleyball court, basketball Court, splash park, grills, a playground, restrooms and a trail. Perfect for the entire family! We’re a 15 min drive from the DFW Airport.
Things to do in Carrollton:
Elm Fork Nature Preserve: a 40-acre (16.1-hectare) nature preserve that guarantees birdwatchers and nature lovers a great treat and a fun but free thing to do in Carrolton
W.J. Thomas Splash Pad: includes shaded areas, various tables, a number of grills, and a deck. There is also a tennis court and soccer field right next to the water park where you and your kids can play some fun outdoor games.
Historic Downtown Carrollton: full of non-chain restaurants, cafes, and cute little antique shops, all great for an evening visit. People who have been here recommend a stop at the candy store and Twisted Root Burger. Babe’s Chicken Dinner House is not to be missed either, for a tasty homestyle meal.
Sam Houston Trail Park: known for its 22-mile (35 km) greenbelt pathway along Trinity River
Things to do in Dallas:
Make sure to check out Lower Greenville, a pedestrian-friendly area that has always been a hotspot for nightlife. Featuring amazing bars and restaurants such as:
La La Land Kind Cafe, Desert Racer, Eastside Social, Wah Wah Room, and Flatbread Company, as well as:
• HG Suply Co: when a trendy bar with rooftop people watching and craft beers meets delicious, farm-to-table food, you end up with the hit bar HG Sply Co.
• Swizzle: tiki bar and restaurant that teleports diners to a Hawaiian wonderland.
• Beauty bar: it combines a hipster and girly yet grungy and groovy vibe to create one big party right before the beginning of lower Greenville.
•The Old Crow: a warm atmosphere with pool tables, jukebox, darts, karaoke, and more
• Wabi House: the go-to spot on Lower Greenville for ramen.
• Alamo Club: dig into expertly prepared steaks, smoky pastrama sandwiches, and roasted chicken, all while sipping the Dak #4, an excellent rum cocktail named for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
• The Dubliner: Irish pub, the ideal spot to gather with friends around great drinks with a warm and cozy atmosphere.
While you're still in Dallas, also make sure to check out other amazing neighborhoods and fun things to do in the city:
Deep Ellum: where countless music legends have graced the stages of places like The Prophet Bar, Trees and The Bomb Factory. For dancing there's the Lizard Lounge, and for artisanal cocktails in chill surrounds, check out the Black Swan Saloon.
And no night out in Deep Ellum is complete without a visit to the best dive bar in the country, Double Wide, and Dallas Comedy Club.
An ever-growing lineup of chef-driven restaurants, gastro pubs, coffee shops and casual mom-and-pop eateries has turned Deep Ellum into the city's newest foodie haven. Here, visitors can chow down on everything from mouthwatering barbecue at Pecan Lodge, artisanal pizzas at Il Cane Rosso and northern Chinese street food at Monkey King Noodle Co, to gourmet burgers at Twisted Root, pub grub at Angry Dog, haute cuisine at Twenty-Seven and don’t forget to check out Deep Ellum Brewing Co.
Uptown Dallas: take a stroll down McKinney Avenue in the evening and you will hear the sounds of lively chatter, laughter, lots of music and people unwinding after a day at the office. Picture lots of patio seating, with tables of friends having dinner and drinks, sharing stories of their days and running into other people they know, making introductions and socializing.
Perhaps one of Uptown’s most appealing aspects, its social scene for young professionals just cannot be beat. Downtown Dallas is definitely bustling during the day with commuters and professionals, but is all high-rise buildings and parking lots. The recent addition of Klyde Warren Park on the north end bordering Woodall Rogers does help in giving some greenery to the area.
Bishop Arts District: packed with more than 60 unconventional boutiques, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and art galleries, all within an easily walkable hub. Restaurants and bars: • Tribal Restaurant • Atlas • Botanist • Revelers Hall • La Reunions • Sketches of Spain • Tejas • Eno’s Pizza Tavern • Paradiso • Lockhart Smokehouse BBQ • Ten Bells Tavern • Veracruz Café • Boulevardier Sweet treats: • Emporium Pies • The Salty Donut • MELT Ice Creams • The Natural Spot. Malls: • Northpark Center • Galleria Dallas
Museums and other attractions:
• Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza: covers the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy and is one of the state’s most visited historic sites.
• Dallas Museum of Art
• Dallas Farmers Market
• Reunion Tower
• Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
• Dallas Zoo
• Dallas Museum of Illusions
• George W. Bush Presidential Library
