Not really "The Shining," but ...

The room was nice. The breakfast stuff was fine. The setting was pretty. BUT the one staff person was pacing around frantically at 5 on Saturday to check guests in because he was eager to go to something else, and there would be no staff at all until Monday morning! The restaurant was closed and half the hotel was being renovated, neither of which was mentioned in the listing. On Sunday morning we found the one other couple in the place, who told us they kept expecting to meet Jack Nicholson with an axe. We checked ourselves out, leaving the key on the counter, and the front door unlocked. Odd.

Hotel requires a good deal of renovation

We had a very short stay, and it was fine, but the room had a broken chair, peeling wallpaper, the television cable system kept shutting down, and in it was dreary and depressing. Newly renovated and landscaped, it could be a beautiful home, but it needs a good deal of TLC.

Well located Ridgefield Inn

We stayed at Stonehenge Inn for a wedding. Turned out it was a day trip for everyone except us, so we were the only guests. Extreme tranquility and a great night's sleep. Mattress was stiff and the bathroom needs updating. Staff were wonderful and we liked the continental breakfast in the living room.

hotel ok but restaurant closed

Poor substitute continental breakfast included moldy jam and was left out all day. Rooms are nice and clean. Staff helpful. If inn is going to be open while restaurant is closed, they have to pay more attention to the food. The price was a great value but not at the risk of food poisoning.

Disaster - should not be open

They say they are under renovation but it looked like they are going out of business. The exterior building is filthy and yard overgrown with weeds. Interior carpet ripped up in the hallways. No staff at all including no housekeeping. My room was ok but I made my own bed, light bulbs were out, one fresh towel in 3 nights, the toilet kept running, and the last day I had no hot water. The building is not locked at night and the rooms have no interior bolt so it is very unsafe. I heard noises but never saw another guest. The only reason I stayed was because I attended a conference nearby and only slept there. I have traveled a lot in third world countries and calibrated my expectations at this disastrous inn accordingly. BTW the website is taken down, the restaurant is closed and phone was disconnected when I called.
