Hampton Inn & Suites Winston-Salem/University Area, NC
8/10 Good
"The room was good but it seemed like the hotel needed a little overall updating. Makayla, at the front desk, was fantastic! Very professional and kind, and helpful."
"The staff at the front desk were friendly and supportive. However, the place looks like it's been neglected and there was construction repair going on in the front of the hotel overhang. It looks like a truck or tractor trailer that was too high hit the bottom of the overhang in front of the hotel and it looks like it is collapsing. That's the first thing you see when driving onto the facility which is an eyesore. The hotel luggage carriers were filthy and looked like they were never cleaned. Checking in at the front desk took a long time as their computer system froze up during check in. The room itself looks like it needs some updating and a deep cleaning. The phone in the room did not work at all not even a dial tone. I complained to the front desk by calling them on my cell phone and they said engineering will come up to check it. They never came up so I unhooked the phone and brought it down to the front desk to show them. The phone finally started working but no engineer came to the room so it was probably a fix made at their communication panel. There were no hotel guests in the hotel swimming pool and it was a hot sunny day so I assume the pool is dirty as well. Hotel management needs to clean up this hotel."
"The property was clean, well maintained, staff was friendly. Breakfast was additional $. Parking was behind the building and lot is sloped. Access from parking lot is thru rear entrance. Our room was upgraded (not sure why but extra space was appreciated) though if I was paying for the suite I would say it was sparse."

"Thin ceiling. Lots of foot noises above.
Been in about six different rooms here and never had that problem before. Bacon is way yo thin. Staff is great, but need new staff cat,"
"The carpets had been recently cleaned and were still damp. The first room smelled so we changed rooms. Breakfast no different than most other places; not much to choose from that isn’t carb related. The handle on the toilet broke off so we had to take the tank lid off in order to flush the toilet. Bed was comfortable but rooms need a good maintenance look over."
