    The Space:

    Make this bright and spacious home your next beach retreat! License to Chill, a four-bedroom house located on the sandy white beaches of Dauphin Island. With beach access directly behind the house and a partially covered and comfortably furnished deck overlooking the Gulf, this home is ready for hosting a retreat to the beach. All one floor, the home features the master bedroom on one side of the house (with its own en suite bathroom) next to the bedroom featuring two double beds. Across the living room, guests can enjoy two more bedrooms with king beds - one has an en suite bathroom while the other has a bathroom right next door.



    What's nearby:

    Enjoy a little vitamin D and splash in the Gulf of Mexico just steps behind the house. Take a day and take a ride on the ferry( just under six miles away) and head over to Fort Morgan and check out the Historic Site where you can find historical exhibits, nature areas, a boat launch, picnic area, and beaches for visitors to enjoy. The home is also within four miles of many delicious restaurants like Islanders, Reel Deal BBQ, and Dority's Bar & Grill!

Great stay on the beach

It was a wonderful stay. The cushioned chairs on the deck and powered leather recliners in the house were so comfortable. The view was awesome, seeing dolphins right off the shore and watching the pelicans dive for fish.

Stunning waterfront location with plenty of space. Back staircase down to the beach appears to need some maintenance. They sway quite a bit. The only other note is that the final night of our stay there was a massive crash in the early morning hours. The large, heavy mirror over the sofa fell off the wall (to say it gave us a fright would be an understatement). The picture hanger wire on the back had broken but upon looking, it appears it has fallen a number of times as there were a number of holes on the mirror in the same area it broke. This is horribly dangerous! We had a toddler traveling with us and had the mirror fallen while he was on the sofa it could have seriously injured, if not killed him (or us). I notified the property manager and I sincerely hope they reconsider hanging it again because it is an otherwise gorgeous property!

Grandkid adventure

This house was beautiful with an amazing view ! It was our first trip to the island and loved everything about it ! The house was comfortable and accommodated our group of 12! The porch was great , well furnished and locked ! The grandkids had a blast ! We do feel the house had a few maintenance issues ,the rusted out of commission outdoor shower( had old water hose) squeaking bunk beds, no working blender or scissors and the need for serving bowels for 12 but overall it was probably our best beach trip ever !

Best beach property ever! Absolutely beautiful inside and out. Gorgeous beach with wide variety of shore birds entertaining us. Fabulous beach combing-the Gulf gave us lots of gifts! We’ll be back! Consider changing front door entry, most confusing convoluted lock/unlock procedures of any rental we’ve ever visited.

Great Location

Location was great ! House was nice only recommendations is washing machine and air vents need cleaning and could use hangers in the closets. There was only 1 swing and it broke on Friday when my daughter sat in it. They did respond when we contacted them about this and came on Sunday and fixed it. Overall happy with our stay and would come back again .

Great beach week

The location was everything we wanted, truly on the beach. The layout of the house, size of bedrooms and bathrooms was great. Plenty towels. The kitchen comes up short. The stove needs to be replaced, the fridge is close behind it. There is a really nice waffle iron there, and plenty dishes and silverware. Skillets not so great. The outside shower is a water hose. But even though there were some disappointments we all had a good time.

Great deck on the beach

Overall we loved our stay with the house clean and right on the beach and the perfect size for 6 adults and 6 kids. We did have lots of problems getting in/out of the driveway, often getting stuck in the sand that was very deep and having to push vehicles out. We also did not have any satellite throughout the entire stay which was reported the first night and someone came to check but was unable to fix at that time and we never heard back. The back deck stairs also move a lot when walking up/down and appear as if they need more support. Finally we had very strange power issues where the lights and appliances would go in/out like we were going to lose power for the last two days. We first thought this was a wind issue but no other houses around us had the same problem. We did enjoy our stay but it seems as if the house could use some maintenance.

Gorgeous, roomy beachfront treasure

The check in process was easy and the property is roomy and gorgeous. It is beautifully decorated. We cooked and had adequate tools in the kitchen. We had 4 adults with all kinds of sewing tables and machines for a quilt retreat. We had plenty of room for all that! The communication with Vacasa was good through email and texting. We submitted a maintenance request for an annoying kitchen faucet that just would not turn off, and they put in a work ticket, but it still wasn’t fixed 3 days later when we checked out. The internet is painfully slow. Someone needed to do a zoom meeting that didn’t work well. It is a rural part of AL, so probably not a lot of internet providers to compete. The TV was great for the game on Saturday, though! I would absolutely love to come back and stay here again, assuming I don’t need internet access. Be aware there are stairs and no handicap access.

Read this before you book!!!

I have used VRBO to book our MANY family vacations for over 6 years now. I have never had a bad experience, nor gave a bad review until now. This property is managed by Vacasa. Upon arrival, the first thing we noticed is how close you are to the water. This little island is beautiful and we were so excited! As we carried our luggage up the stairs we were greeted by 2 large Palmetto Cockroaches. Because the were outside we initially brushed it off. Entering the property it was okay, furniture in the living room needs a MAJOR upgrade as does the Mattress in both of the rooms that lead out onto the deck. Kitchen is minimally stocked. The home had a weird musty smell. At the time I felt the location and views made up for it.... until we started seeing german cockroaches- In all areas of the home. As we inspected further we noticed mold, possibly black mold, coming out of the vents in the bedroom. Water damage was noted on the return air vent right near the washer/dryer area. The washer had mold as well and needs to be DEEP cleaned asap! Our internet was out several times we were there. Most of the lights(lamps) and TVs were unplugged when we arrived which was odd. The bed frame is one room is broken- we ended up sleeping on an air mattress. The stairs leading to the beach are seriously scary. They need repair asap. The are not propertly installed and are on the verge of failure. This place needs some major TLC. We packed up with our infant 2 days after arriving.

A great place to just get away. Very secluded with little commercialization. Gulf Shores and Florida are just a ferry ride away if you prefer more activities.

We had an amazing stay. The house was exactly as the booking stated and more. We even cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner with the well equipped kitchen. We will be beach for sure excellent property thank you so much!!
