Didn’t want to pay the prices in Deadwood, so chose Spearfish. Good location. This is a dated property but they do their best to keep it open at nice summer rates. While in Spearfish, make sure to visit the fish hatchery. Short drive to Spearfish Canyon and Deadwood.

Our pillows didn’t have any pillowcases and then the bed sheets had some things on and in them. Along with that the bathroom door didn’t shut and the room had a musty smell to it. But the staff was great and overall was an ok stay for the price.

So the staff were super nice and friendly. However the rooms were set up really weird with a lot of dead space and the ac was in another room not even in the bedroom which made the bedroom stuffy and hot. The TV’s didn’t work and the curtains didn’t keep out any light so it was very bright. Our room also smelled like a smoker had been in there at some point. The shampoo was also half used.

I should’ve known things were amiss when we walked in the front door to be greeted by a sign that the pool and hot tub were closed. Then we discovered the bathroom light didn’t work. A 4” shank sticking out of the bed frame got me in the ankle. The tub was quite dirty. The hair dryer didn’t work either. My sister in law advised me that this is the business model followed by Baymont by Wyndham. It seems a shame to have a beautiful property in the Black Hills, right off I-90, totally unprepared for tourist season. Caveat emptor!

While the check in was superb and the room was very clean, the breakfast could use a lot of work. There was a nice selection of teas but no water for it. The juice dispenser was out of order for how long. Where was the milk for the cereal? All in all, a very disappointing breakfast offering!

Room was spacious and very clean. Appears rooms were recently painted. No blankets on beds, just sheets, but requested blankets. Pool was being renovated so it was closed. Chose this hotel because it has a pool for our kids. Would be nice if this was advertised on Expedia, hotel website and posted when you check in so families are aware or can choose other options. Simple, but good continental breakfast.

This is an older property, but with a lot of nice updates. The gal at the front desk was ready for us with paperwork and keys ready. Our room was spacious. It had new carpet. Bed was comfortable and bath tub/shower updated. Air conditioning worked well. The room did not have a refrigerator. Also, the pool and hot tub are permanently closed. The breakfast was ok. The back door to the property is always unlocked. Would have liked to seen use of card to enter back door. Price was good on Expedia and short drive to Deadwood. Would stay again.
