    The Octopus Hideaway is an easy two-minute walk to the beach. We're not kidding: you may find this little bungalow duplex so charming that it's hard to leave. But the joy lies in its proximity to the beach: two minutes by foot, through a charming neighborhood and without a care in the world. So load up the house wagon with our beach toys and yours if you want, then dip in the ocean and relax into the sand. Come back to this charming spot--our first BeachHaus, but recently updated (end of 2023)--and know that you're in good hands and among friends in North County San Diego.

We loved staying at the Octopus Hideaway!

They had all of the beach gear we needed and are a quick walk down to the sand. We loved the luscious plants in the backyard and of course the 2 bedrooms. Perfect space for our family of 4!

Get away weekend

Cute cottage! We stayed in the back unit which was quiet and had a lovely little garden! It was just right for us and our dogs! Walkable to shops, restaurants and beach!

We enjoyed our stay at the Octopus Hideaway! We wanted something close to the beach and this was a super close walk! The house is a convenient location to restaurants and shopping. Although we didn't stay long enough to use the kitchen for cooking, it was well stocked. The home was clean and very nicely decorated.

This place was incredible. The yard is beautiful and fully fenced, which was fantastic for our dogs. You’re within a few minutes walk to the dog beach. The house was clean and had everything we needed when we arrived. Super comfy bed and couch. Would absolutely stay here again.

Great stay at the Octopus Hideaway

My girlfriend, dog and I loved staying at the Octopus Hideaway. It's very near dog beach and the commercial shops in Del Mar. The property is also private with a fully fenced yard. The house is stocked with all the necessary items to live and cook during the stay. We look forward to coming back in the future.

A Homecoming Week in the Octopus Hideaway

Out-of-state family members spent a wonderful week in the Octopus Hideaway. It provided a great home base to attend our niece's wedding, visit with family, and tour our favorite areas around town when we lived in San Diego and Del Mar. Family members frequented the area beaches and used the boogie boards and laundry machines provided in the rental.

Peaceful tresure

We really enjoyed staying at the Octopus Hideaway. Such a tasteful decoration and so useful amenities… Great location. We were able to take long walks on tje beach. Really enjoyed our stay. One suggestion would be to have more light options for different corners of the garden. It would have been more enjoayble and possible to have dinner outside

Wonderful Getaway!

This home was just what my family needed during our spring break! The owners were communicative and friendly. They also had a little gift for my twin 7-year olds! The home is clean and comfortable. We loved drinking our coffee in the garden every morning. The beach is a quick 5-minute walk and perfect if you have a dog. The home is located in between Carlsbad (Legoland) and San Diego (we went to the zoo and Seaport Village). We hope to stay here again!

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY

Our family (me, wife, dog) needed a reprieve from the AZ heat and this was the perfect escape. The home is everything that listed / shown and more. I was really impressed with ample closet space, having the dog beach so close, and how every amenity the home offered was right at your fingertips. We 100% want to stay here again asap.

Everything was great except sleeping was difficult without air conditioning in the bedroom as it was hot and muggy that weekend. But so great otherwise and so near the fabulous dog beach— We’ll definitely go again! Wonderfully responsive hosts. Private, quiet, comfy.

Perfection location for weekend getaway

We traveled from Palm Springs for a dog show in Del Mar and stayed this pet friendly duplex. The yard was lovely and very secure. Nice outdoor sitting area. The inside was nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable!!! You are literally a 2-3 minute walk to the beach. We did not cook on this trip but the kitchen is well stocked. Lovely welcome note and coffee that was very appreciated) Also very close to the Del Mar race track so would love to stay here again and walk to the track!!!

Great value especially for the location

The property is quaint and cozy. Very pleasant. Well maintained landscaping. It is a 2 unit house so another guest could be renting the front of the home while you stay in this unit in the back but you do have a nice private area of the yard gated off for just this unit which is a pleasant place to relax. Comfy beds and beach supplies available for use makes this a really great option for small families with kids!

Very pleased with this perfect get away spot!! So wonderful to sit out on the patio, smell the jasmine and listen to the birds sing! Everything was clean and beautifully placed. Family reunion

Our family has been going to San Diego for many, many years. My siblings and I are grown with young adult children now who have all grown up going to Solana Beach and Del Mar. My husband, our adult daughter and I stayed here. Other family were in the neighborhood. This place was clean, comfortable, and had easy access to the beach. We also liked the private yard. We will be back.

Perfect stay!

My husband and I rented the cottage for PLNU Parents Weekend. We even had our son stay to get a break from dorm life. While it is a little drive from PLNU we still enjoyed it. Del Mar is beautiful. The cottage is in a wonderful neighborhood and had all you need for cooking or just relaxing. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. The backyard is charming. On our last full day we walked across the street to enjoy some relaxation on beach. The garage had towels, boards and sand toys for us. We highly recommend it and would love to stay again.

Fabulous perfection!

This is the perfect vacation home—it is truly charming and cosy, but also carefully restrained as to not overwhelm. The tech is just enough to have made our stay easy and also secure, but not so complicated as to have made things overly complicated. The neighborhood is AMAZING, lively, dog-friendly and walkable. And while the neighborhood is in the heart of a bustling California beach town, the house itself remained serene, quiet and restful. There is a lovely backyard filled with birdsong in the mornings. Perfection!
