Charming beach property
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay at Turtle retreat. It is a lovely place with lots of well thought out details to make it very comfortable. It is in a very nice, quiet neighborhood with close beach access to beautiful Del-Mar beach. The restaurants and shops in town are nearby. The host was so nice to work with and communication was excellent. We will definitely be back for another trip.

Lovely cottage by the sea

My family had a good (not great) experience at this property. The location is simply fantastic, just steps away from one of the most family-friendly stretches of Del Mar beach. The house comes fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a beach getaway, from chairs to umbrellas and toys - perfect for families or small groups. What also stood out was the responsiveness and accommodation of the host/property manager. However, I was taken by surprise when I discovered that the property consists of two adjoining units that share parking, laundry, and beach accessories. I may have missed it but I don’t believe this was explicitly mentioned in the listing, and this might be important for some guests to know in advance. We also encountered an issue with the tub backing up, and the host’s suggestion to use a plunger to resolve it left us a bit hesitant, especially with kids involved. Overall, we had a nice stay and would recommend this property to anyone seeking a quiet retreat with easy beach access, as long as you’re comfortable with a basic beach cottage setup.

We are so glad you loved our spot and are so sorry you missed the description details where we describe the "duplex" and also describe the shared laundry and garage amenities but we are glad if your review helps others realize this! As discussed when you were here, the slow tub drain is likely from the LARGE amount of sand that gets tracked back by little ones getting a bath when the shower isn't used first :)

So welcoming. Felt like Home.
It was our first time to San Diego and our first time traveling as a family of four. We couldn’t have imagined a better visit. The hosts were so accommodating and had the best form of communication. The house was kept like a home. The outdoor space was such a safe place for our kids to wonder, explore and play. The bedrooms didn’t leak a lot of light which was great for kids sleep. The house truly felt like a beach home cottage for a family. The neighborhood was so safe and the space made parking hassle free and worry free for a rental cars safety. Thank you for such special memories in such a perfect getaway.

Amazing stay and great hosts
This property is as advertised and is a lovey get away! The host was super accommodating and helped us when there was a travel disruption that caused our trip to go an extra day. The baby gear here was also fantastic and saved us a huge amount of effort to bring ours from home. We will be staying here again!

Great spot, Excellent management!
This is probably the best managed property we've ever stayed at. Communication was incredible from start to finish. I don't think there is one thing they didn't think of with this house when it came to supplies. Everything was perfectly laid out for a great experience! Would definitely stay here again.

Clean and centrally located.
The location was perfect for the horse show we were attending at the fairgrounds. It's a shout walk to the beach and close to several dining choices. The house is really nice and had everything we needed for our 8 day visit. We come to Del Mar once a year and plan to stay here every time.

Mother daughter trip
House very comfortable and clean. Enjoyed a bottle of wine in the afternoons on back patio. Walked into Delmar for coffee each day. Close to the beach and easy access back to San Diego or beaches to the north. Loved it

Our new annual getaway!
Del Mar is one of our favorite getaways and our usual rental is no longer being offered. So we are so happy to have a new place and it is leaps and bounds better. The location can't be beat. The beach gear is everything you could want. The decor and comfort level is lovely. We even enjoyed the guests in the next unit. All the amenities of home. We brought so much more than we really had to because it's all there already. Easy communication and access. This place is a keeper.

Perfect Retreat!
We had a wonderful experience at turtle Retreat. The property management really thought of everything we could need. We didn’t need to contact them at all. Location was perfect access to beach. All the beach equipment was provided inc wagon. Very clean place. Private outdoor dining table was nice because we could buy food out and then enjoy the weather outside on the patio. I plan to contact the property managers the next time I want to book a place in San Diego.

Perfect Family Beach Getaway
This is our third time staying on this property and cannot say enough good things. The proximity to the beach, value, cleanliness and most importantly the superior customer service by Brenda and her team. We needed for nothing and response time and friendliness took any stress away. Recommend renting both cottages with another family.

Very nice, well furnished and clean bungalow just one minute to walk to the beach
We were staying with our 2 children (5 and 7) and were very satisfied. The bungalow is very nice; we found everything we needed including various beach articles …! The contact with Brenda was very nice and reliable; we found a personal welcome card when we arrived. Brenda offered several times personal contact if we needed anything special. On our last day we went with our rental car to LAX; Brenda suggested to calculate with 3 hours to get to the Airport. Her calculation was right since there were no severe traffic problems. We loved Del Mar very much because it is very quiet. As we went to Pacific Beach last year which is quite a party location we enjoyed our quiet and easy Holiday very much this year. Very close in Via de la Valle we found "Farmer's Market" - grocery store with everything we needed including very good coffee…. In the next Village Solana Beach were nice Restaurants ( our favorite "Bankok Bay": authentic Thai Cuisine with very friendly staff;also good but simple "Rubio's": Taco Restaurant) The beach is only a one-minute-walk away… great! Conclusion: we just loved it and want to come back!

Two Relax Days
I was my pleasure to find all clean. It was really easy to check in and start to enjoy the place right away. Everything that you may need is really close to the bungalow such as good restaurants, beach and walks. It is a quiete place that make easy to rest. Highly recommended. Ejoy!

Perfect Family Getaway
The Turtles retreat was absolutely perfect for us. We had two adults and an infant. Brenda set us up with a portable crib for our little one. The location could not be better. We walked everywhere; to a nice dinner with a sunset view and to simple lunch in Del Mar. We have a lot of friends in San Diego County and they all chose to come meet us and go for walks and play on the beach because the location is so perfect. If you surf, it is easy to walk and check the waves before heading out. It is not the best break in the world, but 25th street is a pretty nice beach break. 15th Ave is an easy walk with your board if you want something a little better. The garage full of toys was awesome, our little one and some friends kids had a blast playing right on the lawn in front of the house. We cannot wait to come back.

Turtle’s retreat is comfortable, convenient and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay.
The property is conveniently located and we were able to walk to many places. Also an easy drive to Torrey Pines and San Diego. The property is very thoughtfully appointed and everything we needed was there. The entire property is very clean, and nicely landscaped. We especially like the choice of outdoor areas for dining or just reading. Hope to stay again on our next visit to family in San Diego area.

Terrific place, cute and cozy
We loved this place and plan to stay there again. Everything was great. Private back patio, quiet neighborhood and close to the beach. We like to cook and found the kitchen well stocked with cooking utensils and pans, etc. We loved being able to walk the beach with our coffee in the morning and then back in the evening to watch the sunset. It really is just a few house off the beach. Great place!

Thoughtful and Fun Beach Rental
Brenda and her team have thought of everything that a family or couple may need for a beach vacation. Traveling with a 3 and 6 year old was way easier - the rental was super kid friendly. Having access to “beach stuff” (chairs, toys, boogie boards) and a full kitchen was worth its weight in gold. The cottage was charming and was like being at home. I would highly recommend anything managed by this team!

The Turtle retreat was the perfect setting for our family. The short walk to the beach and laid back street atmosphere was just what we needed. We had everything we needed for the beach including a top notch wagon, leaving us to focus on sand castles and jumping waves.
