" The Hotel El Arz's management does not deserve 1/5. We arrived at the hotel late. We asked for the room that we reserved and paid for through hotels.com. When we arrived at the reception, they told us they don’t accept online payments. The only thing they accept is cash. We asked to speak with the manager. He gave us her name (Mme Maouche) and phone number. Meanwhile, I called hotels.com and asked them to contact Hotel El Arz to prove that we made a reservation . Hotels.com tried to contact...

"Decent hotel in a nice part of Algiers, plenty of character. The beds were very comfortable and the place was beautifully furnished, with lots of marble. The breakfast was adequate and tasty (excellent coffee!). The only slight weaknesses were on cleanliness (we had to ask them to replace the bath mat) and some items not being well-maintained, eg the phone didn't work and the shower head was leaking. Would return."
