Volcano Lodge Hotel & Thermal Experience
10/10 Excellent
"What a beautiful property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hot springs (which stay open until about 3am), the views of the Arenal Volcano, the room amenities, the tasty (& varied breakfasts), the helpful staff, the views from our porch.... I could go on! Staf were helpful organising tours and we really liked how there was a coffee & tea station in reception as well as in the rooms. We also enjoyed our dinner at the on-site restaurant Surá. Highly recommended"

Hotel Lomas del Volcán
10/10 Excellent
"We had an excellent stay, the staff were friendly and amazing, the amenities were top notch, the rooms and entire resort was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay again or recommend to family and friends! "

Hotel Secreto La Fortuna
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed two nights at Hotel Secreto. It’s a cute hotel right in the heart of La Fortuna. The rooms are small, but the view and local breakfast make up for it. Uriel, who works reception was super friendly—he made sure to point out the sloth that hangs out on the property to guests with a flash light at night. He also was full of ideas for local activities for us to schedule. Uriel made our stay perfect! "

Arenal Manoa & Hot Springs Resort
8/10 Good
"From the moment we arrived, the warmth and professionalism of the staff set the tone for our stay. Angelica at the front desk and Michael the bellhop were true standouts—their attentiveness and genuine care made us feel well supported from check‑in through departure. They elevated our appreciation for the entire team.
The property itself is stunning, surrounded by lush greenery with beautiful volcano views from almost every angle. Because this was a last‑minute booking, we stayed in several different room types. Each offered a unique perspective of the grounds, but the rooms felt fairly standard compared to the beauty of the property overall, and each change felt like a noticeable downgrade. The lack of a gym was also disappointing.
The highlight of our stay was the Chato Suite. While the room itself was simple, the private outdoor area—with its own thermal pool—was unforgettable and absolutely worth the premium. By comparison, the Premium Suite was fine but awkwardly designed, with a Jacuzzi that doubled as a shower and was difficult to get in and out of. Our final room, a Junior Suite, felt like a typical hotel room, though the volcano view remained its best feature.
Overall, while the rooms themselves were not extraordinary and the absence of a gym stood out,"

Lost Iguana Resort and Spa
8/10 Good
"room too dark and amenities not working properly
staff friendly and helpful"

Hotel Los Lagos Spa & Resort
10/10 Excellent
"I loved the set up of the hotel. It was quaint enough to feel small and intimate yet it was a really large property with two cold poles with two slides for the kids, which was super fun. The variety of hot spring pools was really fun to go and test out and move around. The rooms were really nice and updated. The staff was really kind. It was a great place and I’d love to go back."

Hotel Mountain Paradise
6/10 Okay
"Está muy bien ubicado y si quieres una experiencia que se adecúe al sitio en el que te encuentras es ideal, le hace falta un poco de mantenimiento "

The Springs Resort and Spa at Arenal
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent service, beautiful views, wonderful food and plenty of activities to keep you busy for days. The staff make this place exceptional. Extremely kid friendly. We were there in high season and it never felt overcrowded. The views though. Breathtaking. Worth every penny!!! "

Hotel Sanctuarium
10/10 Excellent
"My wife and I just wrapped up four very special days at the Hotel Sanctuarium, and I cannot recommend it enough. Since the hotel is so new and doesn't have many reviews yet, we weren't entirely sure what to expect, but I am so glad we took the chance!
From the moment we arrived until the second we left, the experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff is truly exceptional; they are so warm and welcoming that we felt both appreciated and completely spoiled throughout our entire stay.
Highlights of Our Stay:
The Dining: The meals were incredible. We enjoyed breakfast every single morning and had dinner at the restaurant twice. Each meal was a delight!
The Grounds: Everything is kept immaculate. There is a dedicated bird-watching area with a large variety of species to spot, which was such a treat.
The Amenities: The pool features a heated side with a swim-up bar that was the definition of relaxing. We also loved the path leading down to a serene river; it’s the perfect, quiet spot to swim and unwind.
Location: You couldn't ask for a better spot. It’s located just down the road from the waterfall and 10 minutes from the heart of LA Fortuna, making it a very convenient home base.
If you are considering a stay in La Fortuna, do not hesitate to book this gem! A huge, heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff who made our trip so memorable: Fabiola, Genesis, Diana, Kevin, and Yeraldin. You all are fantastic
