COVID-19 has changed the way we travel, but it hasn’t shut down our enthusiasm for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to deal with the new challenges of travelling:
Look into what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so check before you book your flight.
Keep your face mask on even during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to temporarily lower your mask for identification purposes.
Rather than handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. Once that’s done, hold it up for inspection.
TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on baggage. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
Put any personal items (phone, keys and wallet) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during screening.
If you’re bringing food through the security checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your food container or carry-on bag for inspection.
