"Overall, the amenities were good and everything we needed was provided. We also appreciated the traditional Bangladeshi style, including the solid timber furniture. The décor being older is not an issue in itself and gives the hotel character. However, cleanliness and maintenance were below what I would expect from a 5-star hotel. The minibar, shower screen, bathroom door, and areas of wallpaper were stained, yet appeared to simply need a proper clean. The bathroom could be significantly improved by removing and replacing the old silicone, which was missing, loose and discoloured in places, making the whole bathroom appear tired and dirty. The toilet was an older design where the water rises considerably when flushed, which is unpleasant to watch, and the flush was incredibly loud – loud enough to hear neighbouring rooms and wake us at night. The toilet-roll holder was awkwardly positioned behind you and the bidet hose was unnecessarily long, rubbing against the vanity and making noise. The hairdryer was a very old, flimsy 1970s-style model and was falling apart. The minibar door was cracked but worked, and the older air-conditioning was quite loud, so we had to use it on low to sleep. Our room card also failed a couple of times. Both the breakfast and evening buffets were excellent with a great selection. My only disappointment was being served a local Diet Coke but charged around 1,000 BDT, closer to an imported-drink price."

"Great décor, very modern and in parts almost futuristic. Being an architect, I found some of the design choices interesting and unusual. The room facilities and amenities were excellent, as was the acoustic insulation – we never heard anyone next door or in the corridors. The open hand basin within the bedroom was a little strange and something I had never seen before. Staff were generally very helpful. The strangest experience was the entrance. Security itself was not unusual, but the arrangement was. Instead of walking towards the entrance, bags go to a scanner on the left, you then pass the entrance to go to a body scanner on the right, before coming back to the middle to enter. There were also 3–4 staff outside in military-style uniforms surrounding the entrance and cars, helping with bags and sometimes saluting, rather than a traditional doorman/bellboy. It could feel quite intimidating. What made it more uncomfortable was the repeated attention. The same men might welcome me 2–3 times outside, then another 2–3 times while I was at reception, repeatedly saying “Good evening, sir”, saluting, smiling and lingering, while often ignoring my wife. It began to feel like an attempt to attract attention for a tip. We tipped staff throughout Bangladesh, but when several people handle your bags from car to reception, it becomes awkward – do you tip everyone or nobody? We noticed this tipping pressure elsewhere in Bangladesh, but here it felt particularly excessive."

"An ideal location for my business meetings. The service team from the reception to the restaurant was excellent, as was the professional team on the 17th club floor. I tried the spa and salon since I had leisure time after my late check-out before going to the airport. It was an enjoyable trip!"

"I had a great time at the hotel. The staff were very attentive and took care of all my needs. Particular mention goes to Mostafa (the concierge) who went out of his way to make me comfortable. In Receiption Sunny Naimul was very friendly and helpful. Overall, a very caring hotel."

"Just got back from my trip to Bangladesh. This hotel was amazing! Staff was son nice and caring. They were waiting for me at the airport to assist with immigration luggage pickup sent a car to the airport to pick me up. They did the same thing when I checked out. Nazir was at the airport waiting to help me get checked in for my flight. They fast tracked the check in process! I am so grateful"
