With new COVID-19 safety guidelines to adhere to, travel looks a little different at present. Here's what you need to know before you pack your bags for Dong'ao Island:

• Research what, if any, rules or restrictions apply to both your destination and origin. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so check before you book your flight.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly for ID purposes. Anyone refusing to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• Instead of handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, position it directly on the scanner yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
• Place any personal items (phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• If you're bringing food through security screening, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
