About this property
Looking for a place beyond the ordinary in Arizona......
Join us at the DiPeso House nestled amongst the beautiful granite boulders of Texas Canyon in the Little Dragoon Mountains, 65 miles east of Tucson. The DiPeso House is located in a remote section of the Amerind Foundation campus, which sits on 1900 acres. At an elevation of 5000’ above sea level, our climate is pleasant year round. The DiPeso House is 3,000 sq ft and was constructed in the late 1950s but has all the modern conveniences. It is the ideal setting for quiet getaways, family gatherings, retreats and more. This four bedroom, 3 bath house features a large living room with fireplace, a library, dining room, wonderful kitchen (stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, coffee maker, toaster, microwave and more), laundry room, family room, master bedroom with a king size bed and private bath, bedroom with 2 twin beds sharing a bath with a bedroom with a queen size bed. On the other side of the house is yet another bedroom with two twin beds and private bath. All bedrooms come complete with all the linens and bathrooms with towels and accessories. Enjoy the outdoor spaces with chairs on the porch while watching the local wildlife and taking in the magnificent views that surround you. Upon your arrival you will be greeted with a gift basket that includes some local favorites, items from our gift shop, an Amerind Museum family membership and passes for your guests. These passes and membership will allow you to visit our extraordinary museum, art gallery, and bird pond. Knowing that all you have to bring is yourself, your luggage and dining needs sets the stage for an exciting and relaxing get-a-way. Remember this is a remote area and the closest shopping will be in Benson (15 miles west) where there is a Safeway and a Wal-Mart or Willcox (23 miles east) where there is a Safeway. The year-round pleasant climate of our location in the Little Dragoon Mountains is conducive to enjoying the out-of-doors in any season. Easily accessible just one mile off of I-10 at exit 318, our magnificent granite rock formations and views of surrounding mountain ranges offer a peaceful backdrop to your visit. Amerind lies in the heart of the “Sky Island” region, one of the most biologically diverse areas in North America and home to a rich heritage of human cultures stretching back over 13,000 years. From Amerind you and your party can drive one hour or less in any direction to enjoy the stunning rock formations and mountain scenery of Chiricahua National Monument or Cochise Stronghold; the vineyards and tasting rooms of Arizona’s wine country; the history of the wild west at Tombstone or Fort Bowie National Monument; or the world-famous living limestone caves of Kartchner Caverns. The Amerind Museum was founded in 1937 by William Shirley Fulton. We are a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) anthropological and archaeological museum and research center dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Native American cultures and their history. The Amerind houses one of the finest private collections of Native American art and cultural objects in the county.
