We consider it fortunate that we were able to stay at the Orient Guest House. It was such a delight to enjoy the historic atmosphere of the hotel and it's surrounding area. The staff were most helpful and welcoming, the breakfast was very good and the room comfortable and just so charming. Thank you Orient Guest House and staff for making our visit to Dubai a wonderful experience.

Chic, old-Dubai style guest house - highly recomme
I was so glad that I stumbled on this place and spent two nights here. This is a chic, old-Dubai style guest house that is a stone throw's from Dubai Museum and the Textile souk. It is located in the Al Fahidi Historic District. I had no regrets at all booking the place. Hot showers and working air-conditioning, with a very comfortable bed. THe breakfast was buffet styel and more than sufficient. The price - it was a very good deal - well worth the money. To top it off, the staff were excellent and very accomodating to my requests. My friend and I came in at 5am and they accomodated us in the Majlis (a room for us to rest) and even agreed to change my friend's breakfast to the first day. He entertained my many other queries as well and was so very patient - thank you so much Patric! The lady at the reception (Lorena) was also great and very helpful! The hotel has no gym and pool but you can head over to their parent hotel the Arabian Courtyard Hotel where you can use their facilities free of charge. I would not hesitate to stay at the Orient Guest House again if I return to Dubai and I highly recommend this place to anyone who want to explore a different side of Dubai.

Lovely accommodations and friendly owner
Lovely inn in a beautiful old village. The accommodations were much nicer than expected given how rustic the rest of the town was. The owner was very kind and hospitable, serving coffee and dates upon arrival (a true Omani tradition). Dinner and breakfast were delicious and made my the owner's family next door. We even got a tour of the family home and plantation the following morning. Will definitely stay here again next time we go to Oman!

Escape hyper modern Dubai to enjoy its history
Enjoy a unique historic experience in a hyper modern city. Great place to stay, and convenient location. True, many cab drivers do not know the Orient Guest House, but my airport cab driver just had to call to get specific directions. Google Maps also knows where the hotel is and can be helpful for cab drivers. The guest house is located inside the Al Fahidi Historical District, very close the river. While you can see signage for Orient Guest House from the road, you do have to walk about 75 meters to get into the courtyard of the guest house where you check in. When I departed and knew the area, I just walked an easy 10 minutes to the Al Fahidi Metro station and went to the airport for just AED 8. The taxi from the airport cost me AED 65. When you stay here, you'll know you're in the Arab world - this is definitely not an ordinary, modern, personality-free hotel that exists in any city or country. Room was comfortable with old world Arab furniture, the door was a double wood door with a giant pirate chest looking paddle lock. The breakfast was tasty with some Arabic offerings in addition to the usual scrambled eggs. Very friendly staff.

Charming guest house, full of character.
The Orient Guest House, built round a courtyard in traditional Arabic style, is a peaceful haven in Dubai's old quarter, close to art galleries and museums, and on the edge of a maze of shady, stone-paved streets. It's remote from both the glitz of the high rise hotels and the bustle of Bur Dubai.

Great location in the historic section of Dubai
As my wife and I wanted to visit the older section of Dubai, ahead of taking in the "glitz" of the modern city the hotel was in a wonderful location, close to the Creek and to the Dubai museum - staff are very friendly and accommodating - very comfortable room and we were provided with generously sized breakfasts - we will be back!

small and pleasing but difficult to find initially
in the old part of town, close to the creek and 15 min walk to metro. large and tasty breakfast, accomadating staff. its situated opposite the post office on al fahidi street-good to know as there is no house number on address, and al fahidi st is quite long. lovely room, 4 poster bed, aircon etc. there was a telly in my room, but every 2 minutes the signal would go and u would have to turn it on again. i did ask staff about this, who said they would get it looked at, but that didnt happen, so i had no telly-not a terrible thing, but nice sometimes in the eve.

A great find
This hotel is in a great location for exploring Dubai. It is located in the Al Fahidi historical area - an interesting place containing, amongst other things, some enticing doorways that lead into wonderful art and cultural exhibitions. It is also a very easy walk to the Al Fahido Metro Station, the Dubai museum, local markets and the small ferry boats over the river to the fascinating markets and souks. The hotel was QUIET, well air-conditioned, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. This place is great value for money.

Comfortable with great staff!
This hotel was in a great location to walk around some of the historical areas of the city. There were many art galleries and cafe's nearby. Once out on the main road there are many shops and more restaurants available. Taxis are easy to get also. Did not use the bus, but did walk about 1km to the nearest metro station.

Great access to the creek and souks. Excellent food no more than 50 metres from Hotel. We had a problem on 2 out of 3 nights on Air conditioning that in Dubai is an issue. Staff were resposive if not terribly effective in resolving the issue.

Cute guest house walking distance to Dubai museum
This is a cute guest house with kind staff and an excellent location. We were around the corner from Dubai museum, Dubai creek and Al Fahidi metro station. It's part of the heritage village and right next door to an excellent middle eastern restaurant. I am so happy we stayed there. Breakfast was not very good and also wifi was not always reliable in the rooms themselves.

A lovely place to stay
We only stayed for one night, the room was traditional and very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. There is a lovely quiet internal courtyard where breakfast was served. The location was within easy walking distance of the Metro and for exploring the souks. We would thoroughly recommend for people wanting to get away from the busy areas of Dubai. Wonderfully friendly staff would definitely recommend this guesthouse.

Great location for history
The location is difficult to find, as you cannot drive to the hotel. If you have a car, you must go to the Courtyard Hotel and then they dive your car to drop you off near the Orient hotel and you have to carry your bags several hundred meters to the hotel. To get your car, had to let the staff know and then walk back out to the street in 10 to 20 minutes for them to bring the car to you. The staff worked hard to make this process work, but it took time and was a difficult task to get to your car. Therefore, if you are driving, I would not recommend this location. However, if not driving and the taxi knows where to drop you, then if all you are doing is seeing the Dubai Museum and the creek area, then this location is great, and it gives you the feel of older Dubai. Our room was on the second floor, which except for having to traverse a tight stairs, I would recommend, as the windows were nice to have. The sleeping area was small and not fancy and only had room for one suitcase for a double room. The bathroom was sufficient and newer. We were there when it was cooler and rainy, so we could make the room comfortable, but during the heat it may be difficult to cool the room and the bathroom would likely be very hot and humid. The room was generally clean but dusty behind the bed. The main reason to stay are for the the courtyard and rooftop areas, as they are very nice and a break from the busy city around you. Also, you can walk to the main historical sites

Nice typical place
If you are not looking for a skyscraper then this is the place. Situated in the heritage village , 100m from Dubai Museum, a nice place, with very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms in typical Arabian style, furnished with taste, with minibar and a modern bathroom. You will have your breakfast, sometimes a buffet, in the patio, which is in the middle of the place. We enjoyed our stay and will come back. Again thanks to the lady in special who was very attentive and helpful.

Fascinating historic hotel
Historic hotel in the original part of Dubai. Well maintained, friendly, walking distance to Dubai Museum, old markets, abra boats, and surrounding historic area without cars. Hotel is air conditioned and comfortable. Location is fascinating.

Excellent guest house. Only negative is that the hot water was not very hot, but given the climate it hardly mattered. Excellent staff 24hrs. Big rooms. Multiadaptor in room. Warm tap is on the right, not the left as usual. Good location close to the Souks and the Big Bus, or similar, stops. Good breakfast cooked at the Arabian Courtyard and trotted over. Recommended. Would have given a 5 for facilities if the water had been hotter.

Worst stay ever. Ac not working properly. Actual photos shown is deceptive. This property has no connection with the main hotel and you need to either walk or be ferried around. Main hotel staff not friendly at all.This property is managed by only 2 people.This is basically not a hotel and if you only want to reside in a prehistoric housing sweating it out in the dubai heat and feel as you are an old day local ..living like the ansestors then go ahead...but at your own risk

Lovely beautiful Hotel for a Relaxing trip
It is a very nice hotel with a friendly accommodating manager and staff. Very quiet place where you can feel the history of Dubai and the old houses in Dubai just by staying in it. Nice location close to museums and also shopping area and its few minutes walk from the metro. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely stay there again during my next trip to Dubai. Also a very breakfast and polite staff. The rooms are nicely furnished and overall I definitely recommend this hotel for the people who like to see the history of this city plus seeing Dubai today. Special thanks to the manager and the staff for their wonderful service!

Wonderful experience as if we were back in time
The rooms are preserved with historic looks. The bed and bathrooms are upgraded to latest style. But rest of the place is historic. We enjoyed the entire stay. Also the location is walkable distance to all shops and Dubai museum.

Our room was not ready more than 1 hour past checkin. As a result, we could not freshen up before our burj khalifa reservations. In addition, staff initially refused MFA card as form of identification. This level of professionalism is below what we have experiened at other Dubai hotels.

It's not a good start when your taxi driver cannot find your hotel. The Orient Guest House knows that guests complain about this but does not help them by providing clear instructions on its website. I took a Google map for the driver but we still had to drive around the block and then phone the hotel for instructions. My booking had gone missing -- always nerve-wracking -- but was found. It's depressing to be shown into a room that is dark even after the lights are turned on, lights not bright enough to read by. So that leaves TV, but that did not work. So one can enjoy the call to prayer from the nearby mosque. The safe in the room had no instructions and seemed unusable. The breakfast in the courtyard was quite good. And the one staff member, who seemed responsible for everything and was overworked, was pleasant and did her best. Thank goodness for that.

Interesting Taste of Old Dubai
The Orient Guest House provides an insight into the Arab way of life and is a beautiful old Arabian style house with interior courtyard. It is a relic of Dubai before it became the sterile megacity that is is now. However, I found the hotel and room comfort a bit basic for my liking, despite the fact that every guidebook in the Western hemisphere raves about it. I felt that the service was really lacking, or nonexistent, which made me think that the owner was absent for the period that I was there.

An enjoyable stay in the old part of Dubai
looking to stay in the Old part of Dubai, away from high rise glass modernity. lovely ambience in the guest house, felt like a 'true' Arabian experience.Friendly assistance, allowed us to make a late check out and thus explore the neighbourhood with lots to experience. The souq, museums, water taxi Abra)and local cafes made for a wonderful weekend. Lack of nearby safe, secure parking was the only downside. This is arranged via another local hotel.

A calm and relaxing oasis in the desert
We stayed in the Orient Guest house on our 4-day stopover in Dubai on our way home from Australia. We found it an excellent choice , relaxing and very comfortable with a hearty breakfast in the courtyard.
