Room smelled awful. No hot water. They told us only alcohol was charged from the minibar, then charged us for water and soda. No restaurant in hotel not want within walking distance.

Good Morning,We have seen your message and we are really surprised of your feeling.Indeed, at the check-out when we asked to you if you enjoyed your stay, you said everything was good.We discover that you had no hot water. We would like to inform you that if you have no hot water,all the hôtel has no hot water. Mayber if you informed the receptionist, we could help you to use the tap.About the room which smelled awful. We didn't know too, maybe we could change the room if you explained that directly instead of behind your screen later.About the mini bar, the receptionist explained at the check-in that you must pay the drinks in the mini bar even the water. In all hôtels and restaurants, you have to pay the drinks and you have the prices in the mini bar. It's never free ?!About the restaurants, you have 2 just across the street, you have 30 secondes to go over there. After one minute, you have 4 brasseries and we are 10 minutes walking from the town center ! And in our hôtel, you can eat hot meals in jars.Moreover, at the check-out, the maid gave to you your bag with all your gifts for Christmas and you were really happy of our hôtel.We think, it's a mistake and it's not our hôtel. We don't understand why you didn't tell us directly if you had had some problems.We wish you a nice day.Best Regards

Historical yet modern!
What a wonderful find! We were there on Bastille Day, so maybe that was why parking was so free and easy. It was a lovely hotel in a quiet little area with an excellent restaurant right across the street. Breakfast was great and the room itself was perfectly appointed.

The room and facilities were alright but the bed headboard was stained and mucky. The bed side table was dirty too. Location is very good with excellent restaurants around. WIFI available and easy to set up.

Very comfortable and quiet. Staff were really pleasant and helpful. The decor was interesting and the interior design very individual unlike in a chain hotel. Location was good as it was near the marina which is the pleasantest part of Dunkirk. Easy to find free parking in the street immediately outside the hotel. My only criticism is that it was not easy to figure out how the bath taps worked and this meant that the water was not really hot enough when I took a bath.

Great little hotel for the money. Clean, smart room and a fantastic rain shower! Rooms would benefit from AC as ours was a little warm. Big windows can be opened but the seagulls are noisy and very early risers!

Nice hotel overlooking the marina and around 5 minutes walk from the town square and main shopping area. Happy and accommodating staff made us feel very welcome. The hotel is contemporary and is highly recommended. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.

A pleasant and comfortable hotel.
Reception was very helpful. Our French is poor so they spoke good English when we checked in. They helped us with maps and questions about the town. They also gave us a room upgrade which was very comfortable and very good value for the money. Although traffic started early in the morning, the room was quiet, the bed was comfortable and we slept well.

Lovely spot by the marina
Central location easy walking distance to Dunkirk. Rooms comfortable but breakfast a bit pricey. Give it a miss and get something in town. Great adjoining rooms for our family needs.

Nice hotel with good rooms in a good location. Be aware though that there is no air con in the 'comfort rooms' although there is in the more expensive rooms.

Would recommend, very clean hotel. Rooms are efficiently designed and functional. Did not try the buffet breakfast as there are many alternates available down the street.

Close to everything in Dunkirk
Reception throughout my 2 day stay was superb...always friendly and willing to answer any questions...even called me this morning to make sure I did not need room service. Centrally located and provides easy access to many of the local attractions. Although no dedicated parking, it was not an issue as there were always spots available within about a 30 second walk to the front door. Area felt very safe and I enjoyed being able to walk to several restaurants, stores and museums in about 5 minutes. A quick 10 minute drive and you're at the beach enjoying the local scenery and the promenade. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you..my room was modern, cozy and even had a view of the boats docked outside..big plus was the shower; it was huge compared to other European hotels I've stayed at...It had one of those big rainshower shower heads with plenty of pressure. WIFI in the room was also excellent...streamed Netflix in the evening with no problem. My main reason for staying here this weekend was for Remembrance day...This hotel ticked all the boxes for my visit and I would stay here again if I was back in town. Thank you hotel Borel for making my long weekend enjoyable. Oh and another thing...I didn't run into one grumpy person this whole weekend; everyone here is SO friendly even though my grasp of the French language is abysmal. Quick plug for the village of Bergues..15 minutes from Dunkirk..I would recommend visiting...lots to see and do.

J'ai séjourné 2 nuits à l'hôtel Borel pour un voyage d'affaires. L'hôtel est bien situé au centre ville et les chambres sont propres. A mon arrivée j'avais demandé une chambre au calme et le réceptionniste m'a tendu la clé de la chambre en me disant que la chambre prévue était bien au calme. Or j'étais côté rue! j'ai passé deux nuits de sommeils perturbées par le bruit de la circulation. En repartant j'ai eu la mauvaise idée de prendre avec moi les boissons qui étaient dans le mini-réfrigérateur en pensant naïvement qu'elles étaient comprises dans le prix de la chambre. En effet je voyage beaucoup à l'étranger et les consommables sont gratuits. Cette erreur m'a valu un coup de fil agressif du gérant de l'hôtel qui m'a fait une leçon de moral... Il n'a pu débité ma carte. Je suis repassé immédiatement rendre les boissons en interrompant mon travail. Je ne comprends toujours pas la réaction disproportionnée du gérant.

Un albergo molto carino ed accogliente rinnovato a modo. Dovrebbero rivedere il banco della colazione, che con i binari per il vassoio di fronte ricorda un self service anni 90. La stanza dove eravamo era molto spaziosa, anche il bagno lo stesso. Personale cordiale e gentile, un applauso a tutte.
