About this property
Casa Durango - 3 BR 1BA, Pet Friendly Home in Durango on W 2nd Ave
Casa Durango is a charming 3 bedroom 1 bath 1300 sq ft home located on Durango's northwest grid. Our home was originally built in 1896 and was recently updated to include a new kitchen, bathroom, interior paint and furnishings. It still has that vintage feeling but has all the modern amenities. Our home, like most homes in Durango, does not have AC, but the temperature is easily manageable. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and utensils and the dining table comfortably seats four and does have an additional leaf to seat a few more. The living room has a L-shaped couch, large ottoman, a Samsung 40" tv with DirecTV and high speed WiFi. Two bedrooms have new comfortable queen beds and the third bedroom has a new twin daybed with trundle mattress and all have high quality linens and pillows. The third bedroom also has a large beanbag, 36" Flat screen TV with DirecT & Roku and many shelves containing games and puzzles. The backyard is fenced and there is a new gas BBQ on the deck. During the summer there is a outdoor dining set on the deck which seats six people. Our house is dog friendly. The garden is fairly well fenced but not secure enough to contain a pup who really wants to explore the neighborhood. Walk, hop on one of our cruisers (5 available) or take the Durango Trolly which stops 1 block from the house into the historic downtown district for dinner, shopping, bars or to just wander around. There are so many great outdoor activities in and around the Durango area: Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Rail Road, Mesa Verde National Park, Durango Mountain Resort, Sky Ute Casino, Telluride, Gold Medal fly fishing, Animas River, horse back riding, golf, skiing, Jeep tours, rafting, hunting, kayaking, historic district, shopping, world class mountain and road biking, scenic tours and motorcycle touring. The Animas River is only a three minute walk from the house. If you choose to walk downtown, the swing bridge over the Animas River is only blocks away as is the bike path. Historic downtown Durango is less than a mile from the house and an easy walk. Wake up to the whistle of Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train and we hope you enjoy your stay at our home.

Just back from a fabulous long weekend in Durango. Thus property was clean, cozy, well equipped and down right fantastic. Everything went smoothly, the property owners were so easy to communicate with, and everything was super easy.
Great location. Thanks to the owner for having some cruiser bikes to use in the shed. Enjoyed the A/C. Easy check in and check out. Would def stay again when back in town.
The property was wonderful. It is an older home that has been renovated but still kept the old world charm. We had a great stay. The dogs enjoyed the back yard. Hosts were easy to work would. Would stay there again.
We loved the house and the enclosed yard. We came for Thanksgiving and to ride the Polar Express. Unfortunately, only one of those happened as the train had maintenance issues the night we were supposed to ride. However, we enjoyed just relaxing at the house and eating the massive amounts of thanksgiving food and chocolate from the stores downtown.
This was a lovely property that exceeded our expectations! It has a beautiful front fenced yard, a great deck and plenty of space in the house for 3 of us. The bikes were a nice treat and we rode them into town. There were lots of options to walk the dog around the neighborhood. The house is very well appointed - shampoo/conditioner, spices, etc.
Property was perfect for my wife and I and our dog. Fenced in front and backyard was very helpful. Quiet part of town and close to restaurants and grocery store. Very nice.
We had a great time in this cozy older home. It was well stocked with everything we needed for a 2+ week stay. Neighborhood was quiet but still close to everything. Looking forward to another visit!

great place in a great location
We stayed in Casa Durango for the Iron Horse Bike Race, and it was perfect for us. Great house and the backyard was perfect for relaxing after a few long days of biking. The owners were super-responsive and even the neighbors were friendly and helpful.
Definitely recommend this one and when we're back in Durango, we'll try to stay here.

Charming house surprisingly larger than it looks on the outside. Amenities very good. Everything we needed was available and in excellent condition
Fantastic Durango home in quiet neighborhood close to everything
Title says it all. Absolutely great place. We'd love to stay here again. Definite pride of ownership and well stocked. This place is especially great for dogs, and we really appreciated that. It's hard to find.

Perfect for our family
Casa Durango was perfect for our family - mom, dad and two boys. It was close to where we wanted to be in Durango but in a very quiet neighborhood and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. The home was clean and nicely renovated, kitchen and laundry equipment very modern, great wireless internet. It had everything we needed/wanted for a great vacation. Would highly recommend the property.

Great House, Location & Amenities
Had a great stay at this house - clean, nicely furnished and numerous amenities that really made it feel comfortable. Special touches included being greeted by a complimentary bottle of wine and a welcome note by the owners, high end soap/shampoo/conditioner, well outfitted kitchen with nice place settings, board games and books, four bikes, backyard BBQ, outdoor lights, Tiki torches and a hammock. We didn't bring a dog, but saw that there was a dog bed and treats for those that do. The house was quiet and in a great location - we biked to town a few times and also caught the trolley which was just a block away. Would definitely stay here again!

Old school comfort, great location, great owners
This is an older home, circa early 1900s, remodeled just enough to be much better, but not overdone at the loss of its old school character. The location is great. The sun pours in the kitchen in the morning and the living room in the evening, making it very cheery and bright, but the bedrooms are on the north side of the house, so stay cool and dark, all day long. The house was very clean and tidy. The furnishings are comfortable and tasteful. The owners are really good people. The only downside to this home is the single bathroom, but that's all. We would stay here again, in a heartbeat.

Highly Recommended
The owners have done an excellent job creating a truly comfortable space to return to from whatever brings you to Durango. My girlfriend and I came to check out some of the local climbing areas and have some time to ourselves, and I couldn't have imagined a better home base for this kind of trip. I understand that this is a newer rental (although in a charming, historic house), and it's clear that the owners decided to do this one right. We arrived to a warm house (Lisa had made sure the heat was on before we got there), and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine. There were flat screen TV's in the living room and den, comfortable furnishings, plenty of soft blankets, and even books and games. The kitchen has an awesome gas stove and long granite counters and is decked out with everything you need to do some real cooking. There is plenty of room in the long driveway for at least 2 cars, and if you have dogs the backyard will be great for them. Overall, this house would be perfect for any season, and for larger groups as well. I can't wait to come back.

Cute home in a great location
This was our first time to Durango, and only second time to book through Homeaway. The owners were wonderfully accommodating with us as our schedule changed due to inclement weather that delayed our trip. The house is in a great location, close to downtown and only about a 20 minute drive from Purgatory (the ski resort in Durango). There was quite a bit of snow when we got there and we did have some issues getting stuck in the driveway, but once my husband got it shoveled and backed in instead of pulling in we did fine. The house is equipped with everything you need, include two portable heaters for the rooms that got a little chilly. The kitchen was stocked and even included some nice extras like foil and zip lock baggies that came in handy. We had 2 dogs- a westie and labradoodle- with us and both loved the backyard full of snow. There were huge icicles off the roof out the back door, so we chose to walk them around to the backyard for safety reasons. One small issue we had, with it being an older home, is outlets in the bedrooms aren't in terribly convenient locations. We both like to have our phones plugged in overnight next to the bed and were unable to do so. But just a small inconvenience for an otherwise wonderful property! We will be returning to Durango and would love to stay here again.
This was a perfect rental for our family coming in for thanksgiving with extended family living in town but wanting to have our own space to retreat to.
The beds were comfortable, the shower hot and strong, and the kitchen well stocked for our needs.
Location is great, off street parking with a garage to put our bikes in. The house was warm and cozy without being cramped.
We will book again when we visit Durango next.
The kitchen had everything we needed, there were dog biscuits for our dog, Marla, the bed we used was very comfortable and yard was really nice. Responses to our questions were helpful and quick. We were able to walk and ride our bikes to downtown and grocery stores.
We visited Durango with our daughter, her husband and 7 month old baby. The house was perfect! The yard was lovely for evening visits after the baby went to bed. The neighborhood was quiet and so close to everything. The house was so comfortable and had everything we needed for a wonderful family getaway.
