Secluded Lake Front Retreat Among the Pines

Located on a lake in Central MA, this beautiful and secluded retreat consists of 4 buildings nestled among tall pines on 10 acres of woods with abundant water frontage. A perfect getaway for family reunions, a relaxed vacation with friends, a yoga retreat or any type of gathering that seeks a peaceful setting in nature, a gorgeous view, water activities, and space to spread out. Comfortably sleeps 10-14 people. 4 of the bedrooms have their own attached full bath. The place is professionally cleaned but it is a RUSTIC setting in the middle of nature - you may have falling needles, occasional drip of pine sap on outdoor furniture or even a spider on the porch!

This unique property was formerly a Buddhist Retreat Center, right on the lake surrounded by giant pine, oak and birch trees at the end of a long dirt road. Enjoy cocktails or meals by the water while watching incredible sunsets with herons or bald eagles gliding by. Take walks in the woods, go swimming, boating or fishing. Or just relax! Enjoy the quiet! There is plenty of room to spread out and a multitude of places to sit and read, nap or catch up with friends and family.

The original cottage was built circa 1900 and has a wrap around porch and large stone patio with furniture and grill for enjoying the lake, as well as a second floor deck off the master bedroom. It has been completely updated inside with a fireplace, updated kitchen, 2 full baths and large windows for stunning lake views. The kitchen has a 36inch High End monogram range with 6 burners so cooking for a group shouldn’t be a problem.

The second two story guest house was constructed in 2002 and has 3 bedrooms - each with its own full bath as well as an additional full bathroom in common area with steam shower. There is a full kitchen with adjacent small sitting area opening on to a large deck.

Building #3 is a “writers” cabin that contains 2 queen beds with an additional futon chair that folds down into a single bed. One wall is filled with bookcases and a desk. Although the CABIN HAS NO PLUMBING it is close to the cottage for bathroom access.

The 4th building was the monk meditation room and is a gorgeous post and beam building with giant glass doors leading to a balcony that hangs over the lake. We currently have a ping pong table, a desk and a huge sofa for viewing the amazing sunsets! Underneath are 2 canoes, 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards and a small beach to launch them. The lake connects with another lake to the south and two rivers to the north so there are great opportunities for expeditions by boat. It is a shallow lake and gets deep very gradually so good for kids but do bring water shoes as there can be lots of rocks.

The houses have air conditioning although with the lake breeze it’s not usually needed. There is Wi-Fi and three desks in different spaces. Hopefully you don’t have to work, but if you need to we've got you covered and it sure beats working from home!
