"All over it was a good property to stay with my family. Living room is bit packed with dining table and chairs. There wasn't any tea bags/coffee or suger, luckily there is a shop 1 min walk managed to buy some. First time we used the cooker spider came out from cooker hood. Wasn't the best experience but it was funny."

"I stayed Monday to Friday as I was working in Whitehaven. Kitchen had everything I needed, bed was comfy, nice reclining sofasvand good wifi. House was well located, took a stroll to the castle in the evening and the co-op supermarket v. close, quite big and with a good selection."

"Fabulous Lodge, well equipped, comfortable and clean. There was even some complimentary dog biscuits and a ball for our 4 legged friendWe didn't use the Log Burner as we had good weather for our stay."

"Pros: Good value Excellent location in Cockermouth (especially bakery over the road!) Decent size for a couple Cheap parking nearby Easy to find and access Cons: Squashy uncomfortable mattress Needs blackout blinds/curtains No freezer, could use more glasses, crockery etc. We spent four lovely nights here and if the bed and blackout were improved then we’d happily return. "We hired the bunkhouse for two nights of birthday celebrations and walking. Great location with stunning walks right outside the door. Wainwright’s Inn is a few steps away, as is the co-op with its little cafe upstairs. I hope to make our stay an annual event. Highly recommended!"

"Fantastic home on the lake with gorgeous grounds and views. Plenty of rooms to spread out and have privacy yet also large family rooms for gathering together for meals and games. Hosts were excellent and very responsive with tips for local restaurants. Overall a magnificent property and we hope to return! "

"Lovely hotel in a great location. Views over Windermere are amazing. The car park can be a tight squeeze for larger cars. The premises features a very large pub on the ground floor, which is used for a great breakfast for guests. Reception desk for hotel guests is in the bar. The bedroom was very well appointed, clean and spacious. The only issue that I had was that the staff were a little inattentive... Unnecessary waits to be served, tables in restaurant/bar area were not cleared quickly, not much in the way of a warm, friendly welcome."

"Had a few days in The Lakes while visiting family in the UK and attending the Oasis concert in London. We could not have been happier with The Ambleside Inn - totally excellent stay. Great location, wonderful staff (thank you) and although no onsite parking there are lots very close to the Inn and the short stay (30 min) drop off is right outside. Highlights: clean and pretty well kept, despite it being super busy (it was July!), with a really good breakfast and a nice cozy bar plus Pub Food in the evenings. Lots of excellent places to eat in town and all very walk-able and of course it's an extremely picturesque town / setting. Everything in the room worked well and we were pleased with the amenities. Be warned: NO ELEVATOR (aka lift). So if you've got a ton of international size cases it's certainly a challenge getting to the higher floors. Would we go back? Yes; very probably. We have stayed elsewhere in Ambleside, and the lakes, several times before, but the location, staff and amenities would probably mean this is the best place we've stayed. Greatly appreciated the welcome and had a really good visit. Thank you."
